WFB 7th: Bretonnians vs Dwarfs Sobota, Wrz 4 2021 

7th and Bretonnia and Dwarfs and Warhammer and WROhammer tancreddebeauville 19:16

Today we played in Bolter with Alessandro two games in WFB 7th edition for one thousand points per side. I played Bretonnians and Alessandro played Dwarfs. We spend around two and half hour for those games, knowing rules helps make game faster – plus we had two different armies – one which was moving more and another which was shooting more.

  • Bretonnians march to war – but at least knights were without power today. After looking on them, I know that maybe some shadows should be added – still I painted them more than 20 years ago.
  • Bretonnians with men at arms and archers on right flank.
  • Dwarfs waiting for Bretonnians.
  • Maybe in the future I will raise up two more units of men at arms.
  • Bretonnians first turn was used for moving.
  • Second turn was also moving, when dwarfs were shooting. Organ guns got Misfire and exploded.
  • My bowmens were effective in 5th edition, then I don’t remember any spectacular actions with them. Today they proved, that in such games they are great infantry.
  • Dwarf crossbowmen panicked from Bretonnian shooting – really bad luck – as Dwarf morale is great one.
  • Miners arrived and I declared charge.
  • And now luck was on Dwarfs side – I managed to wound Runesmith in challenge, but hasn’t done any casultaties.
  • KoTR fleeing from combat.
  • After that turn Knight of the Realm rallied, but the game was over – I guess it was something near Draw with more points for Bretonnians.
  • Our second game. Bretonnian right flank.
  • Stronger left flank.
  • March, march and march.
  • Archers ready to shoot a volley of arrows.
  • KoTR charged Dwarfs as they had too – due one rune. Second time KoTR unit fled from combat and was overruned.
  • Dwarf crossbowmen running toward Bretonnian archers.
  • Men at arms charged Dwarfs along they noble master.
  • Finally Dwarfs charged Bretonnian archers.
  • Men at arms fought bravely, as no one expected.
  • Archers due huge number won over Dwarf crossbowmen.
  • Men at arms won in hand to hand combat with miners and pursued them. The last thing I did was charging organ gun with army standard bearer and wiping them all.

Summary:
– it was great to play with Alessandro again and our game was in some way demo for Marco.
– today the best units were commoners and the worst were knights – with exception to my army standard bearer.
– anyway format of 500 points work best for Border Patrol, 1000 points worked well with no limits – we will increase point number, but still we will play on smaller numbers.
– explosion of a gun or organ gun hurts in such games, as player is limited with those machines.
– I used magic – it was a Lore of Beasts. For all time I played with Lore of Life, but now it’s time to combine some other tactics.
– first time I used Icon of Quenneles and I like this item.
– it’s always great to talk about hobby which happened today with Alessandro, Kris, Piotrek and first time talk in real with Maciek.

 

WFB: Abandoned wizard tower Sobota, Sier 28 2021 

7th and Empire and Games Workshop and Ogres and Orcs&Goblins and Warhammer and WROhammer tancreddebeauville 16:45

Today we played typical Border Patrol (GW rules) with Alessandro and Krzysztof on 500 points. First game was played beetwen Alessandro Night Goblins vs Krzystof Ogres, second game was played beetwen my Empire and Krzysztof Ogres. I tried to make some scenario, so we agreed that the tower belonged to wizard who perished long time ago. Of course both sides want’s the tower – units 6′ from tower were Immune to Panic.

  • Ogres saw many walking meat.
  • Krzysiek ogres are still work in progress, they look better and better.
  • Night goblins moved up to the obstacle.
  • Ogres moved.
  • Suprise, night goblin fanatics released!
  • Health path in front of Ogres.
  • Ogres charged…
  • and night goblins fled to the forest.
  • One step back from those green madness.
  • Night goblins rallied.
  • But again were charged by Ogres.
  • Sounds like a dinner.
  • One of those funniest unit in WFB, along squigg hoppers and snotling pump wagon. Of course it’s also deadly, especially when hitting armoured knights.
  • Gnoblars in the forest and ogres around tower.
  • Failed charge of ogre gunner.
  • Night Goblin took forest from gnoblar hands. Last gnoblars hiden beetwen night goblins.
  • Second battle. Those Dwarfs were used as Empire Swordsmen.
  • Ogres battle line.
  • I saw ogre, do I?
  • Next time I will take dwarfs as allies, not as proxy for swordsmen.
  • Swordsmen fled as charge reaction.
  • Ogres triumph.
  • Hochland pistoliers managed to take down one of the shooters (he was on last wound, as they wounded themselfs moment before).
  • Gnoblars charged Knights Panther on the flank and won by one point.
  • Handgunners welcomed ogres with rain of bullets, but fled in panic after round of combat.
  • Swordsmen managed to won over one ogre shooter.
  • Knights Panthers rallied and charged back.
  • Ogres looking for loot and food.
  • Last charge – ogres on Knights Panthers.
  • The end. I guess it was draw – magic tower still wait’s for someone who will open it.

Summary:
– games on small points can be really nice and fast as well.
– next time we will play on something more, like one thousand points. Maybe I will write some scenario, still it depends of how many of us will be interested.

 

WFB: Border Patrol on 7th edition Sobota, Sier 21 2021 

7th and Bretonnia and Ogres and Orcs&Goblins and Warhammer and WROhammer tancreddebeauville 18:28

Today with Alessandro and Krzysiek we played Border Patrol on 7th edition of WFB. Alessandro played with band of Orcs & Goblins, Krzysiek with always hungry Ogres and I played noble Bretonnians with many common folk. In something up to three hours we played four games. Today games we played in Planszóweczka in Astra. We played with objective – it was taking church or defend it, but during games no one cared.

  • First game played beetwen Alessandro and Krzysiek.
  • Chariot managed to kill one ogr with „da shotta”.
  • Ogres march forward, with gnoblars going next to them.
  • Waagh – orc’s moved forward and charged ogres. Behing goblin fanatic started his dance with ball in his hand.
  • After hand to hand ogres retreat, but rallied.
  • One more face to face combat.
  • Ogre standar fled the field with emtpy stomach.
  • Last of gnoblars…
  • … and ogres left the field.
  • Second game was played beetwen me and Alessandro.
  • My first round was move forward.
  • Squires – who want’s to be promoted to a knight? Dirty job before you, those goblins are special ones!
  • Archers managed to score successful wound on Night Goblin fanatic.
  • Orc’s successfully charged Knights of the Realm, but knights hold on.
  • Men at arms joined noble lords in combat. The battle was won by Bretonnians.
  • Third game, me against Krzysiek.
  • Just move.
  • Then charge and the game was over, as main unit was catched and the other paniced. So…
  • we played fourth game with Krzysiek. Bretonnian archers after several loses left the field.
  • Squires moved around the flank.
  • Knights lowering they lances…
  • fled from ogre charges as they were overcome by fear.
  • Squires managed to eliminate five gnoblars.
  • Hurry up.
  • Pursuers galloped into…
  • Ogres.
  • Last try, knights charged ogres,
  • But did not broke them in combat.
  • More ogres arrived…
  • and last Bretonnians left the field.

Summary:
– I have cursed rolls for knights armour saves, especially for my enemies.
– we will organize it again, maybe in form of small campaign. Need to look on campaigns from 5th edition, maybe we should draw a map – not sure, never played other campaing than those from „Herohammer” era.
– 500 points is great amount to start playing WFB.
– we used revised rules for Border Patrol done by our friends Remo and Profi. Those rules are in Polish.

WFB: Hochland pistoliers Wtorek, Mar 2 2021

Yesterday night around 20 o’clock I realized that I need to finish some started soldiers for my Empire and Kislev army. I’m really good in starting new projects and leaving them to start another one, which is not good, as I have many almost finished models on my deck.

This time from thinking about it, I started painting pistoliers and they horses. Most of work I did up to the midnight, with some details today morning before starting work.

Four more Hochland pistoliers join single one I painted in past. Now I have valuable unit of Empire noble sons, ready to fight for they elector Adelbrand Ludenhof, for Emperor Karl Franz from Holswig-Shliestein family, in the name of Sigmar!

WFB: bloody struggle beetwen Bretonnia and Empire Sobota, Lu 13 2021 

6th and Bretonnia and Empire and Warhammer and WROhammer tancreddebeauville 18:21

Today we played with Marian bigger game on 2250 points per side. Marian played Reikland and I played Bretonnians from border area of Parravon and Quenneles. We are still learning again new things, as we still do mistakes.

  • Initial position of both armies.
  • Empire in first turn did shooting, then Bretonnians started moving.
  • Empire drtachments were everywhere.
  • Look on left flank.
  • Bretonnian turn two. All Grail Knights were wiped out by Empire artillery. Only Duc and damsel survived.
  • I had some luck that I killed Empire battle standard bearer with Banner of Griffon.
  • Then pursued swordsmen.
  • Archers runned away from massive charge of Empire cavalry.
  • Last moments of damsel.
  • Archers left the field, joined by mounted squires.
  • Knights Errants reduced to champion.
  • Bretonnian duc after eliminating wizard lord was held by brave cannon crew. Then pursued by swordsmen.
  • Need to magnetise all Bretonnia, as packing them that way is horrible.

Summary:
– It’s hard to counter magic, when your enemy have three wizards (lvl 4, lvl 2 and lvl 1) and you have one (lvl 2).
– first time from a long time I meet so many shooting, three cannons, two hellblaster volley guns.
– my best unit of Grail Knights was eliminated by enemy fire, even banner increasing ward save didn’t help them.
– Men at arms did nothing, at least the survived along bowmen.
– My army standard bearer – worked well as always, my Duc did not succed well.
– army list, maybe I will add it later here.
– at least we played good game – which finish was a Draw – Marian got 1472 points and I got 1542 points.

 

WFB: Just playing Bretonnia Piątek, Lu 12 2021 

6th and 9th Age and Bolt Action and Bretonnia and Warhammer and WROhammer tancreddebeauville 17:35

Many years passed since I first time played 6th edition (started in 5th around 1997). I played less and less and stopped somewhere around 2005. My only army stand on shelf above my desk for a long time, and I played her rarely – once a year or not, up to the 2015. In 2015 when I started new job, I meet friend (thank you Krzysztof Sz.) who played Orcs and Goblins in 9th Age, I got it. I heard that GW has some plans for WFB, so I bought Green Knight, two trebuchets, three boxes of Men at Arms. It was good choice, as GW discontinued my beloved system. Then everything started – I got Bolt Action and due that meet great ppl I never know before – it was 2016, I started new work, greatest one. Then I realized, that among ppl I meet are many ppl collecting or playing WFB, happilly I refreshed contacts with ppl I losed 15 years ago (thank you Marian P, Marcin S, Piotr K, Rafał W. and many more). We started playing smaller games, like for 1000, 1200, 1500 points per side, but now is historical moment – 2250 points, my army looks almost the same as on last tournament I played in Sfan (shop in Wrocław) with exception – now I have Men at Arms I hadn’t had in past, plus I have some more archers. Some magic items and virtues on characters are different, still I don’t remember all stuff my Duc Tancred de Beauville had in past. Many things changed, like most of time I’m playing 7th edition, but I like to return to 5th and 6th.

 

WFB: Empire and Kislev, High Elves vs evil Beastmen Sobota, Sty 23 2021 

7th and Empire and High Elves and Kislev and The Beastmen and Warhammer and WROhammer tancreddebeauville 17:05

On the Saturday of 23.01.2021 we played pitched battle – four players, four armies – each army value was up to 1500 points. So we played two on two. On the good side was my Empire and Kislev and Piotrek’s High Elves, on the bad side were two armies of Beastmens – lead by Marian and Marcin.

Good armies can have variety of reasons to join they forces against evil side – in this case it could be High Elves looking for they ancient treasures or artefacts left in the Old World, when they had colonies centuries ago. Empire and Kislev force where send to check what they are doing – with no conflict or almost in, they realize that common enemy want also check what is hidden inside old elven ruins.

  • My Empire and Kislev.
  • Piotrek’s High Elves.
  • Marian’s Beastmen horde.
  • Marcin’s Beastmen horde.
  • All forces deployed.
  • View from left flank. The Beastmen started game.
  • Hard, slow move with add of some magic. Turn of good side.
  • Knight’s Panthers hold out against charge of two chariots.
  • Pursuing fleeing chariot.
  • Winged Lancers and Dragon Princes lowering they lances and charging enemy chariot, crashing gors at the end.
  • Right flank wasn’t great sight for Beastmens. Many of them fled seeing horseback warriors behing they backs.
  • Knights Panther with a real support of elven chariot managed to break beastmen gor unit.
  • Long line of Ungol horse archers tried to shoot down minotaurs.
  • In last turn Cygor charged handgunners, spawns held Knights Panthers, but the battle was over.
  • Final look on the field of glory from left flank.

Summary:
– first big battle in 2021, wish more such battles.
– need to read again 7th Rulebook, as we still had some doubts and still have.
– we played on Marian’s board on Marcin’s improvised table with my terrains (photos below).
– first time my mortar did something to someone and not exploded. Cannon was more succesfull than ever.
– my roster was almost the same as in previous games.
– first time I used Lore of Shadows and those spells are really nice (4 and 5 are my favourites) – first Total Power from a long time (three 6’s).

 

WFB: Empire and Kislev vs Night Goblins Czwartek, Sty 14 2021 

6th and 7th and Empire and Games Workshop and Kislev and Orcs&Goblins and Warhammer and WROhammer tancreddebeauville 21:32

On 14.01.2021 we played with Marian (from https://maniexite.blogspot.com/) small game – 1000 points per side, we played in 7th edition, still I used army book for 6th edition Empire. Both sides had everything painted, so it’s a kind of game I like. It happend somewhere in Kislev, on the border with World Edge Mountains.

Empire troops were composed of:
7 Knights Panther with full command group, lead by a captain (equiped as knights) with Banner of Valour
7 Kislev Winged Lancers with full command group, lead by a boyar (equiped as lancer) with Enchanted Shield
10 handgunners with marksman
2 x 5 Ungol Horse archers
Great Cannon

Night Goblins were composed of:
49 Night Goblins with full command group, three fanatics, lead by a hero with Mad Cap Mushrooms
30 Night Goblins with full command group, three fanatcis
10 Squig Hoppers
15 Squigs in a herd, pushed by 9 night goblins
3 Stone Trolls

  • Empire and Kislev allies.
  • Horde of Night Goblins supported by mighty stone trolls.
  • Both sides prepared to battle, first turn belonged to greenskins.
  • Drawing of fanatics is always dangerous job. Ungols horse archers were hit by two and ceased to exist.
  • Other Ungol horse raiders survived meeting with night goblin fanatics.
  • Survivors passed panic test.
  • Fanatics everywhere.
  • I guess that with cannon for last two battles I had bad luck. Missfire is common roll on artillery dice.
  • Night Goblins are coming!
  • Winged Lancers took initiative, without ranks, but led by brave boyar they charged Night Goblin unit. On the other flank Knight Panther didn’t passed fear and wasn’t able to charge trolls.
  • Knight Panther after compulsory charge of Squig raiders.
  • Regroup said leader of Hochland handgunners.
  • Knight Panthers turned they tails and fled.
  • Some brave Ungols runned near greenskin horde.
  • Many turns of stubborn tests on Kislev Winged Lancers.
  • Artillery piece was overruned.
  • Situation is hot as hell.
  • Finally Winged Lancers managed to broke night goblins and spread panic to squig herd next to them.
  • Hand gunners shot down one stone troll.
  • Handgunners fled from the field of battle.
  • Last turn of Empire.

Summary:
– great game with minor victory for Marian’s Night Goblins – it was 1031 for Marian vs 795 for me (we counted standards, generals, half of units and quarters).
– I really need to replace in such small games one heavy cavalry unit with infantry with detachment.
– there weren’t any magic spells in games and not many magic items at all.

 

WFB: Empire and Kislev cavalry Wtorek, List 24 2020 

5th and 6th and 7th and Empire and Games Workshop and Kislev and Ludzkość w świecie Warhammera and Oldhammer and Warhammer and WROhammer tancreddebeauville 16:44

Twenty three years ago (1997′) I read article about WFB in PC games magazine Gambler and around this I started collecting Bretonnians, who was my first and for around fifteen years my only army. I was young and played Warcraft and WFB was interesting for me. Now Bretonnia is still my favourite army, but I wanted to have few other armies – so here are small cavalry contingent of Empire and Kislev cavalry:
– unit of Knights Panther of Inner Circle from Middenheim, lead by grandmaster Heinrich the Pious.
– unit of Kislev Winged Lancers from town Wrotizla.
– two units of Kislev Ungol riders, one composed of Gospodars and another bigger one from friendly Ungol tribe – who are employed as mercenaries.

With addition of two more small unit’s of pistoliers this army will be highly mobile. In addition there will be two infantry units: spearmens and halberdiers with detachments plus cannon and mortar. In 4th edition there will be also unit of Empire Dwarfs.

  • Gospodars light cavalry.
  • Wrotizla Kislev Winged Lancers.
  • Famous Empire Knights Panther.
  • Ungols Horse Archers.

 

WFB: Amazon warrior Niedziela, List 1 2020 

6th and 7th and Lizardmen and Warhammer and WROhammer tancreddebeauville 15:17

By accident I started collecting Lizardmen models, the main reason was some models of my brother from Bretonnia-Lizardmen starting box for 5th edition – I doubled the numbers of models, got some cavalry, terradons, stegadon, Slann and decided that instead of Chameleons Skinks I wish to use beautiful women sculpts bought at badsquiddogames.com. And after few years after shopping I painted first one – she will be used as skink hero or priestess. So I have ten more models to be painted and used as Chameleon Skinks.

I used following paints and it took me around hour to finish model:
– base coated with Wraith Bone,
– for flesh used Contrast Guilliman Flesh plus some highlight with Kislev Flesh then,
– green is Contrast Warp Lighting,
– blonde hair is Zamestri desert with shade of Reikland Fleshade, then highlighted with Zamestri desert,
– here tiny costume is Contrast Flesh Tearers Red and then Contrast Iyanden Yellow,
– wooden part of a spear is Contrast Wyldwood, stone part is Administratorum Grey plus shade of Nuln Oil, then highlight with Administratorum Grey,
– for gold items – rings, medalions I used Auric Armour Gold,
– some bones – Ceramite White.
– for base I used texture – Armageddon Dust shaded with Athonian Camoshade.
– Tufts on base are from Army Painter (some grass).

Przez przypadek zacząłem kolekcjonować modele Jaszczuroludzi, głównym powodem było to, że miałem trochę modeli mojego brata z podstawki bretońsko-jaszczuroludzkiej do 5 edycji – podwoiłem ilość modeli, zakupiłem trochę kawalerii, terradony, stegadona, Slanna i zdecydowałem, że zamiast skinków kameleonów użyję te piękne kopiece rzeźby zakupione na badsquiddogames.com. Po kilku latach od zakupu pomalowałem pierwszą dziewczynę – będę jej używałem jako bohatera lub kapłankę z charakterystykami skinka. No to jeszcze 10 dziewczyn które będę używały zasad skinków kameleonów.

Użyłem następujących farb i pomalowanie modelu zajęło mi około godziny:

  • jako podskład Wraith Bone,
  • jako skóra Contrast Guilliman Flesh oraz trochę highlight z Kislev Flesh,
  • zielony to Contrast Warp Lighting,
  • blond włosy jako Zamestri desert z cieniowaniem Reikland Fleshade, później highlighted z Zamestri desert,
  • do stroju użyłem Contrast Flesh Tearers Red i później Contrast Iyanden Yellow,
  • kij od włóczni to Contrast Wyldwood, głownia zaś Administratorum Grey plus cieniowanie Nuln Oil, później highlight z Administratorum Grey,
  • do złotych elementów jak pierścienie, medalion użyłem Auric Armour Gold,
  • trochę kości – Ceramite White,
  • podstawka to Armageddon Dust cieniowany z Athonian Camoshade.
  • kępy trawy na podstawce są z Army Painter (jakiś grass).
