WFB: MISFIRE 2024 PL/EN Wtorek, Kwi 30 2024

Ludzie na MISFIRE dopisali – mimo, że The: Old World odebrał nam chociażby we Wrocławiu kilku graczy, w tym bywalców poprzedniej edycji – trudno.

On the last weekend of April, April 27-28, 2024, I had the pleasure of taking part in an event organized by Rafał ‚RaV’ Kozielski related to the good old WFB for the 6/7 edition – previously, for various reasons – both human and time-wise, it was not possible. While we started playing WFB in Wrocław with Maniexite since we met in Planszóweczka, I regret that I met Rafał only a few years ago, but it’s always better late than never – maybe Marian and Rafał, together with me and Rafał, could have worked together on topics related to WFB earlier.

About MISFIRE itself – the event was, is and will be dedicated to a player from Opole, known under the nickname „Żuku” – who was a friend, a buddy, a good soul for the organizer and many people from Opole and probably not only. He has gone to a perhaps better world, but his memory will remain as long as we live and the MISFIRE tradition will continue. Unfortunately, personally, as a player who wandered around the Centrum Gier on Igielna Street, Ogryn in Feniks, Bard in Pasaż Niehof and finally Sfan for a while, I did not have the opportunity to meet him, the Internet was being born and I was not an away player. You can read more about Adam ‚Żuk’ Pieszczuk in the entry that was written in the local edition of Gazeta Wyborcza in Opole and is available HERE. In short – ‚Żuku’, a social activist who wants to help people like himself – with disabilities, and also a player whom I unfortunately did not have the opportunity to meet – rest in peace friend.

From Remo: Despite his disability, Żuku enjoyed life as much as he could. We played battla, went to tournaments, went on trips to the swimming pool, and went to discos. Moreover, he was very intelligent, I talked with him for many hours about life and politics.

What can I say about MISFIRE, an event in the form of a tournament – it is a great event for all players of the good old Warhammer Fantasy Battle in the 6/7 edition – army manuals from the 6th edition, the manual from the 7th edition. And what determines whether in whether you want to play a given game or system at such events or you don’t even go to them – the most important thing is – people. It doesn’t matter where they are from – they are the most important – after all, what they represent is the most important for me and probably for most people appearing at this type of events, whether it is MISFIRE organized by Rafał, WROHammery organized by me and Maniexite or many other such events. the type of events that in Poland gather fans of the old, maybe not perfect, but still popular WFB. People at MISFIRE contributed – even though The: Old World took away several players from us in Wrocław, including regulars of the previous edition – it’s hard. Those who appeared were in a class of their own, and we had players from the old, historic Silesia – from Katowice, Opole, Wrocław and Krakow.

I had six great games with:
1. Konstantin (Gdańsk) – Bretonnia
2. Jasiek (Wrocław) – High Elves
3. Rafał (Wrocław) – Skavens
4. Remo (Wrocław) – Tzeentch Deamons
5. Jonasz (Opole) – Bretonnia
6. Przemek (Katowice) – Chaos Dwarfs

Much more photos done by Rav are THERE.

Podsumowanie:
– jedno z fajniejszych wydarzeń w którym brałem udział, obok jest lokalny Middle Earth: SBG i Bolt Action w Poznaniu, aż kusi by zorganizować kolejnego WROHammer’a.
– bardzo fajni ludzie, co jest tym, co trzyma ludzi przy graniu w stary, niby martwy system – on wcale nie jest martwy i wg mnie bije cały czas na głowę The Old World który nie jest zły, ale czegoś w nim brakuje.
– dzięki RaV za świetne wydarzenie i każdemu z osobna za przybycie i sześć świetnych gier!

Summary:
– one of the coolest events I took part in, next to it is the local Middle Earth: SBG and Bolt Action in Poznań, it’s tempting to organize another WROHammer.
– very nice people, which is what keeps people playing the old, supposedly dead system – it is not dead at all and in my opinion it still beats The Old World which is not bad, but something is missing.
– thanks RaV for a great event and everyone for coming and six great games!

WFB: Underground Empire counterstrike Sobota, Mar 4 2023

Yesterday I played another game with Sambor in our WROHammer league 2022-23 – thank you Palen, for organising page and league! We had interesting battle in WFB 7th edition. There were several points when game stopped for a moment. I tried to do my best and do photos of those moments.

We played on modified set of rules for WFB – Lore of Grumpy released by Alex, we use version from Semptember/October of 2022.

Summary:
– great game against Sambor.
– at the end it was 14:6, I was loser in this battle beetwen noble Bretonnians and vile Skavens.
– several moments in the game where crucial for both sides.

WFB: A clash with enemy who doesn’t exists Niedziela, Lu 19 2023

Last Saturday I played another game in 2022-2023 league of WROHammer, which was started due efforts of Palen. I had chance to play against Piotr’s Skaven’s. We played with rules attached to page mentioned on the top. We play 7th edition rulebook and army books are generally from this edition as well.

Summary:
– it was great game, although I have to rethink how to play against such monstrous things like abomination.
– some more days to thinking about changes, not only in tabletop games.

One common thing with my battle, one side was tablet from the field.

WFB: Bretonnian battle with Skaven in Praha Niedziela, Maj 15 2022

Last few days I’ve been in Czech capital – Praha (EN Prague, PL Praga). Everything we have now started on 7th edition group in the fourth quater of 2021. Months of posts with invitation of new members give resulted in contact with Archibald and then Ludek, Martin and Petr. I realised that maybe we can do another WROHammer event vol. 3. From talk we started working on event which we organized on February 2022. Archibald, Ludek and Martin arrived from Praha, CZ and Janek from Gdynia, PL, we had some good meeting on Friday, then great games on Saturday and some beers after. Freshly after Wrocław WROHammer event in Praha had been announced, there were some ppl wanting to came there from Wrocław, finally I left my zone of control and travelled to beautiful capital of Czech Republic, then I was re-joined by Alessandro on day of the event.

Praha event took place in great hobby store Ogří doupě on 14.05.2022.

More about Praha later, as I have too many photos and some thinks in my mind.

Summary:
– it was great experience to come there and meet Martin and to know more friends here in Praha, thank you Petr and Vladimir for great time!
– day before I was taken from the hotel and saw two oldest pubs and Hradczany, it was really nice to meet you or first time personally meet.
– we talked about everything, from Praha history, WFB and other games including RPG’s, PC games up to situation on the east.
– it was great to see first time in life metro.
– with Martin I played my first game abroad, it was great experience to finally visit city of friends we know from FB group.
– all the time I know that I can improve my English, but up to this date I know that is on enough level to talk with friends about anything, play tabletop games (last time I was translating Polish rulebook into English for Czech friend), to talk in business in case of support or regarding requirements with architects. Reading with understanding fantasy, history, news and technical documentation.

Warhammer Fantasy Battle, how to start? Part I. Niedziela, Kwi 17 2022

Warhammer Fantasy Battle is so called „dead” system – but still there are people who play it. It’s square based system, where units move in formations (although some of them move as skirmishers and few of them circle wheel bases – like Night Goblin fanatics). „Dead” system – system which is not supported by it publisher.

Games Workshop
(GW) closed line of development for Warhammer Fantasy Battle (called in short WFB) when I started my current job (around 2016). To this day in they offer are many models for Age of Sigmar, which can be used to play in WFB (some of them are models released during 7/8th editions of WFB). So what we had in past? Games Workshop released following armies:

Bad guys were:
– Chaos (after 5th edition it was separated on Chaos Warriors, Beastmen and Deamons) – here are all of them,
– Chaos Dwarfs,
– Dark Elves,
– Orcs and Goblins,
– Skaven army,
– Vampire Counts.

Good guys released:
Bretonnia,
Dwarfs,
Kislev,
High Elves,
The Empire,
Wood Elves (up to 5th edition).

So called neutral:

– Dogs of War,
– Kingdoms of Ogres,
– Lizardmen,
– Tomb Kings.
– Wood Elves (from 6th edition).

Those mentioned are armies that were in WFB, still around half of them can be fielded with the current line of GW models.

When I looked on the shelf in the shop, I realized that probably the easiest armies to be collected now are demons of Chaos.

Nowadays from Games Workshop offer will be impossible to assemble: Bretonnians, Dogs of War, Kislev, Tomb Kings. Not easy but still possible will be creating something for Dwarfs, High Elves, The Empire, Wood Elves. Still many units are not in the offer – but it’s will be mentioned in next article.

What is still avaible in the Games Workshop offer? We will start from bad guys – Grand Alliance Chaos which covers in some way armies from past: Beastmen, Chaos Warriors, Deamons of Chaos and Skavens.

1. Chaos Warriors, old mortal Chaos – now called Slaves to Darkness:
– models for characters – wide range,
– Chaos Warriors on foot and on horse,
– Chaos Marauders on foot and on horse,
– Chariots,
– Spawns,
– character on Manticore.

2. Chaos Beastmen, called now Beasts of Chaos, even better choice than they Northern co-believers:
– Gors – typical core infantry,
– Ungors – typical cannon fodder,
– Ungor Raiders – skirmishers with bows,
– Chaos Warhounds,
– Bestigors – elite infantry,
– Centigors (they are usualy drunk, still avaible),
– Dragon Ogres,
– Ghorgon,
– Cygor,
– Cockatrice,
– Tuskgor Chariot,
– some characters as well.

3. Chaos Deamons with current name in offer as four different demoinc powers, so:
a) Blades of Khorne – deamons of Khorne:
– there are greater deamon of Khorne – Bloodthirster as well as many other units which were used in WFB in past. Most popular core units from 6th are:
– Bloodletters – minor deamons of Khorne,
– Flesh Hounds.
I don’t remember special or rare units but Mighty Skullcrushers probably appeard in 7th or 8th editions.

b) Disciples of Tzeentch – deamons of Tzeentch:
– of course we start with Kairos Fateweaver and Lord of Change as lords,
– Horrors of Tzentch,
– Screamers of Tzeentch,
– Flamers of Tzeentch,
– Horrors of Tzeentch,
– Burning Charoit of Tzeentch,
– some characters as well.

As we can see summoning horde of Tzeentch is even easier than those of Blood God.

c) Hedonites of Slaanesh – deamons of Slaanesh:
– at start – Keeper of Secrets and Shalaxi Helbane – both can be used as Greater Deamon of Slaanesh,
– Deamonettes of Slaanesh,
– Seekers of Slaanesh which looks like Mounted Deamonettes of old,
– Seeker Chariot of Slaanesh,
– some models which looks like good addition to Chaos Warriors.
– some characters as well.

For me not many, but deamonettes could fit well in Cult of Slaanesh from 6th edition Storm of Chaos.

d) Maggotkin of Nurgle – deamons of Nurgle:
– at start – Great Unclean One,
– Nurglings – small and happy deamons of disease,
– Plagueabearers of Nurgle,
– Beast of Nurgle,
– some characters as well.

It seems all, maybe I missed something for those Chaos power.

e) Skaven army seems to be well covered in Age of Sigmar:
– at start named and by many favourite character Thanquol and his rat ogre Boneripper,
– Doomwheel – one of those funny stuff you don’t like to come near your cavalry units,
– Hell Pit Abomination – effect of Skaven most advanced technology,
– Warp Lighting Cannon – another rare unit avaible to Skavens in the GW offer,
– Screaming Bell,
– Stormvermin – some better infantry unit avaible to the Skaven horde,
– Gutter Runners,
– Weapon teams – including Ratling Gun, Warpfire Thrower or Warp-Grinder,
– Night Runners – another skirmishing infantry,
– Plague Censer Bearers,
– Rat Ogors, Giant Rats and Packmaster – Rat Ogors – old Rat Ogres,
– Clanrats – core unit of many Skaven armies.
– Plague Monks,
– Warplock Jezzails of clan Skryre,
– Verminlord avaible as four different models,
– some characters as well.

As I realized that I started writing it some months ago and due lack of time I wasn’t able to publish it I publish it now as part I.

Everyone should remember – that Age of Sigmar uses round bases and WFB uses square bases. In case of getting army books – eBay, Allegro or other internet shop, maybe someone sell it. Of course everything is also in .pdf – I prefer paper books.

To be continued.

WFB 7th: Inter arma silent Musae… Czwartek, Lu 24 2022

Today, in that sad day from the morning we played a very friendly game on 1526 points with Sambor Skavens – it was a test of some interesting works of Skaven engineers. I took Empire (belowed Middenheim – City of the White Wolf and Bergsburg – city of goddess of mercy Shallya) and Kislev (stanitsa – Wrotizla), as I have them magnetized and was able to put box with them easily to the bag.

We played on 1526 points as our friends living in Prague organize event with such points limit.

Summary of our struggle:
– thank you Sambor for great game again,
– thanks for Bolter for place we play,
– still learning this army.

Summary of 24.02.2022:
– I just wish peace beetwen Russia and Ukraine, as most of ordinary people wants to live in it, I wish international friendships which are priceless as any other. We managed to find great people in Prague, but as Pole living in Wrocław, PL I wish to have friends everywhere – Germans, Russians, Ukrainians, French, British, Americans etc. – hobby is shortest way to find interesting people. You meet person, you have a chance to knew different cultere, traditions, cuisine etc.
– to be sure I’m right side and I can say, that I enjoy meeting people of different nations – in my life I found friends in other nations, especially Russians, Moldovians but also Spanish, Dutch, Belgians, Denmark, Germans, Bialorussians, Ukrainians. Found Czechs and British (or Archibald found me). We are all the same as a people.

As I love Russians, I also meet many great Ukrainians – I wish peace for both nations. Life is too short, to be victim of war.

WFB 7th: Bretonnians&Dwarfs vs Chaos&Skaven Poniedziałek, Gru 27 2021

Today we played in Bolter.p, Wrocław, PL, 2 on 2 game – building armies around Border Patrol composition from 6th edition. Each army had 500 points – it was 2000 in total on the table. We had ambitious plan to play scenario – but it will wait for better day.

Summary:
– great, fast game.
– next time we should play two on two with more points, as some armies works better on more points.
– thank you guys for good time!

WFB 7th: Bretonnians vs Skavens Sobota, List 13 2021

Today we played with Marian on 1500 points per side. I could forget about that race exists – yeap, they are no legend those rat beastmens.

Summary:
– at least now I know one more thing – thank you Marian.
– battle was if we counted it well minor victory for Skavens.

WROhammer vol.

Zagraliśmy w dwóch czteroosobowych drużynach: żółtych i czerwonych. Każdy z uczestników wystawił armię na 1000 punktów, korzystając z zasad 7. edycji WFB. W skrócie: w pierwszej grze celem było zdobycie przedmiotu, w drugiej utrzymanie go, a w trzeciej gracz, który go zdobył, mógł wykorzystać jego moc.

Graliśmy w Planszóweczce na Bielanach Wrocławskich.

🇬🇧 Another round of WROhammer – this time hosted by “Profi.” We played in two four-player teams: the Yellows and the Reds. Each participant brought an army worth 1000 points, using the rules of 7th edition WFB. In short: in the first game, the objective was to capture the item, in the second to hold on to it, and in the third the player who had claimed it was allowed to use its power.

We played at Planszóweczka in Bielany Wrocławskie.

🇵🇱 Podsumowanie:

🇬🇧 Summary:
– Many thanks to Profi for organising the event, and also to Planszóweczka for providing the venue.
– Thank you all for the great atmosphere and for coming!
– I still am not sure what works best for Bretonnia at 1000 points.
– In the game against the Dwarfs, I had some luck but also made mistakes that I later tried to fix. In the battle against the Orcs, a major mistake was not giving the item to the Grail Knights, and in the game against the Dark Elves, I wasted some crucial charges.

WROHammer vol. 1 (EN🇬🇧/PL🇵🇱) Sobota, List 23 2019

🇵🇱 W sobotę, 23.11.2019, udało nam się spotkać w większym gronie i zagrać w stary, dobry Warhammer Fantasy Battle, VII edycję, w formule zbliżonej do turniejowej.

🇬🇧 On Saturday, 23 November 2019, we managed to gather in a larger group and play some old, good Warhammer Fantasy Battle, 7th edition, in a tournament-style format. The atmosphere was excellent – very different from the last tournament I played in ages ago. As a warm-up, we played at 1000 points.

Many thanks to everyone involved: Dominik from Kostka Domina, Paweł Botor, Planszóweczka, and all the participants.

The first game was against Paweł “Botor”’s Greenskins. The Bretonnian battle line was drawn up and ready for battle.

🇵🇱 Podsumowanie:

🇬🇧 Summary:
– I should have listened to Marian, but I insisted on bringing a fully cavalry-based army – and that was a mistake.
– Great atmosphere, great people, plenty of terrain, and painted armies – exactly how a game of WFB should look.
– I finished last, which is actually a pretty good motivation to rethink my mistakes.
– In two games I got beaten badly, and in the last one I also lost clearly, although this time it was not a massacre.
