Today we played a battle which we play monthly – big battle with many participants – there were two Russian brigades my and Michał, Marian’s Austrian brigade, British brigade of Bartosz and on the other side French brigades of Mikołaj, Gargamel’s Italian brigade and Spanish brigade of Grzegorze. Thank you Bolter.pl for terrains and place we played. Our brigades started marching on the roads – each player came from different direction. There were three sides of conflict – Austria and Russia, United Kingdom and Spain and French with Italy. There were also Krzysiek as gamekeeper.
From bottom – on right Russians, then tin the middle Italians, after them on left British. On the top left Spanish, in the Middle Austrians and on top left French.

My third batallion stayed there due to a problems with issuing orders.
Heavy fighting going on.
British close to a farm.
Russians came too late, still crossed a bridge.
Hand to hand combat beetwen Austrians and French.
Generally end of battle with a score: Draw.
Need to learn how to roll low on orders. My brigade was staying for four turns at least.
Summary: – It was great game, thanks everyone – will try to update some informations about this battle soon. – Next time need to split my brigade on two – one composed of infantry and another one of cavalry, as I had all time issues with giving order. Need to paint more cavalry – not sure if I can do it, I have a month. – in Wrocław we are avaible under this page: Wrocławscy bonapartyści. – After game with Bartosz we went for some lunch to the nearest pub SOTE – wine pub & food and next to Tacos Locos – hope next time more people will go with us.
🇬🇧 Today we played with Marian from Maniexite a game in Bolter.pl. Thank you Rafał and Piotr for help with terrains. Any time, any way – good game.
🇵🇱 Podsumowanie: – Szybka i przyjemna gra, wygrana przez austriacką armię Mariana. – Utrata mojego głównego batalionu nastąpiła zdecydowanie zbyt szybko.
🇬🇧 Summary: – fast and nice game won by Marian Austrians. – lost of my main batallion happened too fast.
🇬🇧 On Friday, Damian and I played two really nice games — both went great. Then, the worst day of my life began.
I was supposed to meet my cousin and his girlfriend later, but first, I went home to drop off my miniatures. When I got there, I started looking for my cat, Bafik — one of my three cats. I checked the bathroom first, then searched around the flat (which is quite big), and went back to the bathroom again… only to find Bafik lying on the floor. I think he had been hiding there, trying to find a quiet place.
When I looked at him, I could tell something was terribly wrong — he was weak and crying softly. I immediately ran with him to the nearest veterinary clinic. We spent two hours there while they checked his blood and temperature — both were dangerously low. They told me that more detailed tests were needed, and recommended I go to another clinic equipped for that.
At the second clinic, they ran more examinations. I agreed to a blood transfusion and left him at the hospital overnight. It was his best chance, and I truly believed he could make it. The report even said the transfusion was successful.
Trying to distract myself and hold onto some hope, I started assembling a model church around 2:00 a.m. — I couldn’t sleep. A few hours later, around 7:00, I began cleaning, then went shopping and came back home. Finally, I went to bed around 11:00 after being awake all night.
Around noon, the phone rang. The vet said there were complications. I was terrified. Not long after, they called again — Bafik’s heart had stopped, and they couldn’t bring him back.
Natychmiast wybiegłem z nim do najbliższej kliniki weterynaryjnej. Spędziliśmy tam dwie godziny — sprawdzali mu krew i temperaturę, obie wartości były niebezpiecznie niskie.
Kilka godzin później, około siódmej rano, zacząłem sprzątać, potem zrobiłem zakupy i wróciłem do domu.
Bafik 11.10.16 – 03.07.2021To young for walking on the rainbow bridge. Hope to see you someday my small, four leg friend. I will never forget you.
🇬🇧 This evening, Marian and I played another chapter in our campaign, with Krzysiek serving as game master. This time, soldiers from two different Russian battalions learned that someone in the middle of the village possessed the recipe for exceptional moonshine. Both battalion commanders sent their men in, but neither had made contact with the other.
Pewnie zrobię to jutro. – Działamy w Polsce, we Wrocławiu, pod nazwą Wrocławscy Bonapartyści. Jesteśmy otwarci na granie w Black Powder i na poznawanie naszych sąsiadów – Niemców, Czechów, Rosjan i innych.
🇬🇧 Summary: – thank you Krzysiek, Marian for nice game, for Piotrek and Bolter.pl for place to play and Rafał for great terrains, – It was rainy evening, but happilly we were inside. – it was great game with Game Master and interesting scenario. – Uhlans, my heart was broken – no idea how to use this beautiful models in this game, I guess that skirmishers are more useful. – happilly I did not get my salary today, if so I would buy few three buildings for North and South conflict (I will do that probably tomorrow). – we are based in Poland, Wrocław under this adress – Wrocławscy Bonapartyści we are open to play Black Powder and know our neighbours Germans, Czechs, Russians etc.
🇬🇧 Today we played a larger Black Powder battle. Two manor houses were at the centre of the action – one defended by my Russians and the other by Gargamel’s Italians. Fighting alongside us were the two British contingents commanded by Damian and Tomek. On the opposing side stood Marian’s French, Kris’s Württembergers, and Bartek’s Neapolitans and Würzburgers. In the end, I do not clearly remember how the fate of the manor houses was decided.
– Chcę wspierać nasze hobby we Wrocławiu – Bolter.pl, Planszóweczkę.pl, Adę i Agę.
🇬🇧 Summary: – Black Powder is really nice game, thank you to my game dealer Marian – I’m involved, jet not so fast with painting – unhapilly there is Cyberpunk 2077 which is blocker. -I guess that we have a chance to build great community in all systems related to Black Powder era – I mean Black Powder, Sharp Practice etc. – from Bartek we know, that in Praga there is local community playing Black Powder, hope we can find a contact with them. – thanks for Rafał for terrains and Bolter.pl for place to play. – thank you Bartek, Damian, Grzesiek, Krzysiek, Marian and Tomek for great game. – Bistro Narożnik have great dumplings – they are my favourite pub on Nadodrze in Wrocław. Great that they survived plandemy. – I want to support our hobby in Wrocław – Bolter.pl, Planszoweczka.pl, Ada i Aga – whenever we will play, I will add it under raport. I miss Centrum Gier Bitewnych, old Bard and Sfan, but they got great replacement.
🇵🇱 W ogarniętej wojną Europie epoki napoleońskiej toczy się kampania, a dziś razem z Krisem rozegraliśmy jej kolejną bitwę.
🇬🇧 A campaign is unfolding across war-torn Europe in the Napoleonic era, and today Kris and I fought its next battle.
🇬🇧 Summary: – It was an interesting game, made even better by the special events that came up during it. – I tried to do everything at once and ended up securing none of the objectives. Next time, I should focus on a single direction. – Many thanks to Kris for the battle and to Rafał for providing the terrain. – The campaign is far from over, of course – and now it is my turn to prepare the next scenario, since this time we played one designed by Kris. – For the first time, my uhlans managed to beat the dragoons, only to be struck by cannon fire afterwards and flee the field.
🇵🇱 Ponieważ wojny napoleońskie zaczęły zyskiwać popularność w moim rodzinnym Wrocławiu, razem z Marianem zagraliśmy po raz pierwszy w Muszkiety i Tomahawki.
🇬🇧 Since the Napoleonic Wars seem to be becoming more popular in my native Wrocław, Marian and I decided to try Muskets & Tomahawks for the first time. The game feels quite similar to Sharp Practice, which I have grown to like a lot recently. It also uses activation cards, so the two systems have some clear similarities.
The main differences I noticed were: – D6 are used in Sharp Practice, while Muskets & Tomahawks uses D10, – the shooting modifiers are much more detailed in Muskets & Tomahawks, – line of sight plays a bigger role, together with many related modifiers, – all units of a given type on one side are activated at once, meaning they can shoot, run, fight, reload, and so on – but they are still limited to one action each, – the activation deck works differently, as both players draw three cards – which means that sometimes your opponent may activate one of your units, and sometimes you may activate one of theirs, – there are no Shock points – or at least we did not come across them during the game.
🇬🇧 Summary: – As a skirmish game, it is relatively inexpensive to get into – all you need to start is a box of plastic miniatures from Perry or Warlord, and you can already build your own warband. – After just one game, I cannot say too much about Muskets & Tomahawks, but it seems to be a skirmish system every bit as interesting as Sharp Practice. – Thanks to Planszóweczka for providing us with a place to play.
🇬🇧 Today Kris and I played the next game in our campaign. After the previous battle, the Russian-Prussian alliance failed to seize the vodka supply convoy from the French and their Swiss mercenaries. This time, the Russians faced the French in a scenario involving a prisoner – a famous producer of moonshine.
🇬🇧 Summary: – As a Bretonnian player, I am still not quite sure how to get the best out of Polish uhlans in Russian service, but perhaps a few more games will teach me how to use them properly. – This time, we played at 50 points per side. – It was a very enjoyable game, even though my Russians are still far from reaching their objective in this campaign.
🇬🇧 A week after losing the town hall, the brothel, and the vodka store, the Russians found an ally willing to help them recover their lost property. After all, the French could hardly be allowed to enjoy all that vodka by themselves. Acting on information provided by their spies, the Russians and Prussians prepared an ambush for a wagon train carrying valuable cargo.
Led by the “Prussian Heir,” the Prussians joined forces with my Russians and Poles to spring the trap. On the other side stood “the General,” the Swiss, and Kris’s French. Unfortunately for the would-be ambushers, the trap never truly came together – the Russians had emptied the last bottles of alcohol the previous night and were in no state to march by morning.
🇬🇧 Summary of game, day and life: – We played in a group of four players; until now, I had only played Sharp Practice one-on-one. – My Russians and Poles were clearly not sober – they moved so slowly at the start that the Jägers even had trouble getting over a hedge. The Prussians, by contrast, were much more disciplined. I clearly need to paint a few more units for my Tsarist force, especially those raised in the Polish territories. – It was a very good game, and many thanks go to my fellow players and to Rafał from Bolter.pl for preparing the battlefield. – Of course, most Poles fought for Napoleon, though some also served in units raised by the Tsar. Even so, one of the finest cavalries in the world was Polish cavalry – from the Winged Hussars to the uhlan brigades of the Second World War. – The day was full of history. Because I wanted to be on time but ended up running late after work, I took a taxi to pick up my miniatures and got into a conversation with the driver. His father had been a Polish tank crewman in 1939, and his unit had been deployed near Kutno. I suspect he may have served in the 1st Polish Tank Battalion, equipped with 7TP tanks. Everyone seems to carry an interesting story behind them. – One of the two photos I sent to Gazeta Wrocławska was published on their website – the one showing old Polish advertisements on my building in Wrocław. I had used the word Breslau (the German name for Wrocław), and apparently no one noticed that those signs were actually Polish and dated from after 1945. And even if they had been German, what difference would that make? We should remember history and the people who lived here before us. I am not sure what reaction I would have seen if I had written that my grandmother, whom I never met, may have been Austrian or German – that dispute between my father and my aunt still remains unresolved. Sadly, she died before I was born. – As for friendship, people of different nations can still be friends, even when there are difficult stories between their countries. I think I genuinely like Russians and Germans, but I have also met wonderful people among Moldovans, Indians (thank you, Govinda), Filipinos, Basques, Italians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, Dutch, Belgians, Iranians, and Americans. I hope to meet even more people in the future, because it is always worth getting to know their opinions, their stories, and their culture. Greetings from Wrocław, Poland.
🇬🇧 After painting a battalion of Russian infantry a year ago, I became curious about whether there had been any Polish units serving in the Russian army. That was when I discovered the Polish uhlans. The decision came quickly – I immediately knew I wanted to include them in my Tsarist force.
Many thanks to my friend from Maniexite for first sending me the relevant link, and later also some excellent pictures showing the uniforms of different uhlan regiments in the Russian Imperial Army. If I decide to add another uhlan unit in the future, it will most likely be the Volhynian Uhlans. At the end, I also included a picture of the Polish uhlans I chose.
As we have been discussing light cavalry banners on our Facebook group, I decided to give the standard bearer a banner I found there. With that, the first unit of my light cavalry brigade is complete – and there will definitely be more in the future.
