WFB: Bretonnia vs Empire in Prague Niedziela, Sier 18 2024

W czwartek 15.08.2024 miałem przyjemność zagrać kolejną grę w Warhammer Fantasy Battle na 6/7 edycję w czeskiej Pradze. Wstępnie planowaliśmy zagrać wielką grę dwa na dwa po 1,500 tysiąca punktów na gracza plus dodatkowo dla strony Bretońsko-Imperialnej – dodatkowo Gotrek i Felix, zaś po stronie Orków&Goblinów oraz Skavenów uzupełnionych Thanquolem i Rozpruwaczem Kości. Plany te nie wyszły i zamiast tego Ludek z Martinem zagrali dwie gry przeciwko sobie, a ja z Petrem zagraliśmy jedną. Plan na większą grę pozostawiamy na przyszłość. Naszą grę stoczyliśmy w Ogri Doupe.

On Thursday, August 15, 2024, I had the pleasure of playing another game of Warhammer Fantasy Battle for the 6th/7th edition in Prague, Czech Republic. Initially, we planned to play a big two-on-two game of 1,500 thousand points per player, plus Gotrek and Felix for the Bretonnian-Imperial side, and Thanquol and Boneripper for the Orcs & Goblins and Skaven. These plans did not work out, and instead Ludek and Martin played two games against each other, and Petr and I played one. We are leaving the plan for a bigger game for the future. We played our game in Ogri Doupe.

Rycerze Grala, zbrojni, łucznicy w rozproszeniu, rycerze królestwa… Grail Knights, Men at arms, archers in skirmish, Knights of the Realm…
…& konni giermkowie/mounted squires.
Miecznicy z wsparciem, wielkie działo, włócznicy z wsparciem, halabardnicy z wsparciem, hellblaster, kusznicy, moździerz i rajtaria.
Swordsmen, spearmen and halbaldiers units with detachments, great cannon, hellblaster, crossbowmen unit, mortart and pistoliers.
Imperium rozpoczęło ostrzał, kiedy Bretończycy się modlili. Empire started fire, when Bretonnians prayed.
Pierwsza tura Bretończyków. First turn of Bretonnians.
Mniej niż połowa rycerzy Graala dotarła do walki. Less than half of Grail Knights get into hand to hand combat.
Moment przed tym, jak rycerze Graala prawie przełamali obronę. Moment before Grail Knights almost break enemy line.
Rajtarzy na tyłach. Pistoliers on the rear.
Waleczni łucznicy zatrzymali jednak rycerzy. Valiant archers held against brave knights.
Pogoń za uciekającymi niedobitkami łuczników. Pursuing after remnanst of last archers.
Miecznicy zebrali się. Swordsmen rallied.
I uderzyli na zbrojnych rozbijając ich szyk. Then charged on men at arms breaking they formation.
Bohaterscy łucznicy zatrzymali szarżę mieczników. Brave archers held against swordsmen charge.

Podsumowanie:
– na prawym skrzydle udało mi się rozpędzić rajtarię ostrzałem z łuków, moździerz wybuchł, rycerze królestwa przetrzebieni ogniem kusz i nie tylko zmniejszeni do połowy zaszarżowali i rozbili kuszników, po czym wrócili po piekielny miotacz który szczęśliwie się zaciął.
– na lewym skrzydle po pogoni za niedobitkami łuczników celny strzał z działa wyeliminował z potyczki mojego generała i chorążego, ostał się pojedynczy rycerz Graala z chorągwią oddziału.
– starcie zakończyło się remisem lub wynikiem bardzo zbliżonym do remisu.
– dla Petra to była druga gra przeciw Bretonni i pierwsza w WFB, na starcie ostrzegłem przed tym co może zrobić oddział Rycerzy Graala.
– po naszych popołudniowych rozgrywkach wybraliśmy się doborowym gronie Ludka, Martina, Petra i Radka na zasłużone piwo i posiłek do U posty. W U posty serwują czeskie piwo oraz przeróżne dania – mi bardzo posmakowało ostatnim razem danie o nazwie – Variace smažených českých sýrů w skład którego wchodziły trzy różne zapiekane sery, frytki i zielenina z dodatkiem sosu.
– dzięki kompanio za świetny czas, oczywiście wrócę!


Summary:
– on the right wing I managed to disperse the cavalry with bow fire, the mortar exploded, the knights of the kingdom, decimated by crossbow fire and not only that, reduced to half, charged and defeated the crossbowmen, then returned for the hellish blaster which luckily jammed.
– on the left wing, after chasing the remnants of the archers, an accurate shot from the cannon eliminated my general and standard-bearer from the skirmish, a single Grail knight with the unit’s banner remained.
– the clash ended in a draw or a result very close to a draw.
– for Petr it was the second game against Bretonnia and the first in WFB, at the start I warned about what the Grail Knights unit might do.
– after our afternoon games we went with a select group of Ludek, Martin, Petr and Radek for a well-deserved beer and meal at U posty. At U posty they serve Czech beer and various dishes – I really liked the last dish – named Variace smažených českých sýrů which consisted of three different baked cheeses, fries and greens with sauce.

WFB: Border disputes in Grey Mountains Środa, Czer 5 2024 

6th and 7th and Bretonnia and Empire and Warhammer tancreddebeauville 09:00

On last Sunday (2.06.2024) during my visit in Prague I played two games in old, good WFB 6/7th edition. First game I played on Thursday with Ludek in Ogří Doupě – place I know from previous visits and events. Second game I played on Sunday (before we left Prague) with Martin in place I visited first time and I like it – Rubikondeskovny – hope to be there again someday!

Vinohrady – sleeping there, drinking and eating – enjoying Czech cuisine, enjoying WFB with friends from Prague – love this district. About Prague I dedicated few posts and there will be one or more again, as I love this city and it citizens. So long time ago everything I’m in happen after my welcome post on WFB 7th edition group – thank you Archie for answer.

So a Battle for Tatuv Garden begun:

Right flank of Bretonnians secured by famous Grail Knights.
Center with three great core units.
Knights Errants on the left flank.
Empire army in all of it glory.
Some loses after first round of Empire black powder magic phase.
Tatuv Sad – great cider and I can say that as person prefering beers.
Got some loses from magic and blackpowder magic – Virtue of Noble Disdain keep them brave.
Empire pistoliers fled after being charged by Knights Errants.
Running up after halfling and his mate KoTR meet Empire infantry.
Several different situations on the field of battle.

… then his machine exploded.

Summary:
– thank you Martin for great game, hope to play one more – in WFB for sure or maybe I will come to Prague to play on some Old World event.
– our game at the end was DRAW.
– it was great to visit Rubikondeskovny – wish to be there again – thank you Lukas from Rubikondeskovny for great talk. Hope to be there again in next few months.
– thank you Martin for going with us to Florenc – at least some more time on talk and few Czech beers.
– again and again theory that world is small place happend as by „accident” I meet brother of one of my friends and we talked about one other system.

I strongly believe from time I meet Svetlana on old Last.fm friendship can go beetwen borders.

 

WFB: Border dispute beetwen Bretonnia and Empire Piątek, Maj 26 2023 

6th and 7th and Bolter.pl and Bretonnia and Empire and Games Workshop and Warhammer and WROhammer tancreddebeauville 10:30

Yesterday we played small battle on 1250 points beetwen my Bretonnians and Łukasz Empire.

Bretonnians left flank.
Grail Knights.
Bretonnian right flank.
After first turn units moved.
Pistoliers and handgunners take down many noble Knights of the Realm.
Massive joined combat beetwen Bretonnian KoTR, men at arms and Empire spearmen with detachment of halbeldiers.
Flank attack – at the end I losed my best unit.
Final charge which resulted in draw.

Summary:
– good game, I guess it was Empire victory, suppose 12:8 or 15:5. Thank you Łukasz for great game!
– it’s my last attempt to make WROHammer alive, if I fail shadow of me could be seen playing WFB, but never again I will try to organize anything related to this system, at least I can see that this scenario wouldn’t happen now.
– as making Old World alive again we started playing Mordheim, to be sure I will play both, Mordheim and WFB. Thank you guys who joined our small group playing Mordheim – it’s really nice to see ppl I know from other systems like Bolt Action or other systems, to play together.
– still searching for a job, not sure if I want to be a software tester – probably would like to test games of any kind, but cannot get in that industry.

 

WFB: Neigbours disputes over Marienburg Środa, Lu 22 2023 

7th and Bolter.pl and Bretonnia and Empire and Games Workshop and Kislev and Oldhammer and Warhammer and WROhammer tancreddebeauville 22:58

Last days I had too much free time, sometimes things happen unusual way. Still there are positives – I can play more games including WFB – today 7th edition. With Bartłomiej we played game on 1250 points per side, I played my Empire and Kislev, my opponent played first time his Bretonnia.

Both sides after turn one.
Tried to hit, but cannon ball started bouncing to far.
Pistoliers tried to shoot down some Knights of the Realm.
Kislev Ungol riders tried to disturb some other Knights of the Realm.
It was too much for Knights Panther to hold ground, losed three of them and was broken in combat and fled.
It could be good charge, but I did almost nothing and archers scored three pistoliers, winned combat and cought them.
Situation out of control, as cannon crew fled because of broken unit.
Panic after losing two winged lancers, but they…
… managed to rally.
Before unit was destroyed – handgunners managed to eliminate whole unit of Grail Knights.
The end.

Summary:
– it was great game and it’s nice to see that younger generations are intrested in file and rank system, especially WFB.
– need to paint some meele infantry and more missile armed handgunners and crossbowmens, maybe hellblaster, as again I saw that I have too much cavalry which should fight with enemy weakend by my own fire.

 

WFB 7th: Inter arma silent Musae… Czwartek, Lu 24 2022 

7th and Empire and Games Workshop and Kislev and Skavens and Warhammer and WROhammer tancreddebeauville 22:58

Today, in that sad day from the morning we played a very friendly game on 1526 points with Sambor Skavens – it was a test of some interesting works of Skaven engineers. I took Empire (belowed Middenheim – City of the White Wolf and Bergsburg – city of goddess of mercy Shallya) and Kislev (stanitsa – Wrotizla), as I have them magnetized and was able to put box with them easily to the bag.

We played on 1526 points as our friends living in Prague organize event with such points limit.

They come ot us – „quick, quick” – heard from the opposite site.
Winged Lancers of Wrotizla.
I’m not proud of that white unit.. Empire mortar.
I think I painted them when lovely Armenia was attacked.
A trap for brave Gospodars and Ungols.
Brave Knights Panther from Middenheim and Bergsburg pistoliers charged.
Stubborn do not help on fear and outnumber.
Fire, reload, fire, reload – Hochland handgunners and great cannon repelled clanrats.,
Hat by shit, Empire knights flee.
Kislev cavalry changing position.
Unpainted fight worse, joke – I losed this unit in one turn of combat.
Led by young captain Heinrich Knights Panther left the field of battle in shit..
Hans, give me one more pound of gunpowder (they killed Skaven general on strange engine).
Kislevites escaped.
That boyar… Empire cannon hit him by accident, no politics.

Summary of our struggle:
– thank you Sambor for great game again,
– thanks for Bolter for place we play,
– still learning this army.

Summary of 24.02.2022:
– I just wish peace beetwen Russia and Ukraine, as most of ordinary people wants to live in it, I wish international friendships which are priceless as any other. We managed to find great people in Prague, but as Pole living in Wrocław, PL I wish to have friends everywhere – Germans, Russians, Ukrainians, French, British, Americans etc. – hobby is shortest way to find interesting people. You meet person, you have a chance to knew different cultere, traditions, cuisine etc.
– to be sure I’m right side and I can say, that I enjoy meeting people of different nations – in my life I found friends in other nations, especially Russians, Moldovians but also Spanish, Dutch, Belgians, Denmark, Germans, Bialorussians, Ukrainians. Found Czechs and British (or Archibald found me). We are all the same as a people.

As I love Russians, I also meet many great Ukrainians – I wish peace for both nations. Life is too short, to be victim of war.

 

WFB 7th: Bretonnia vs Empire Czwartek, Sty 27 2022 

7th and Bretonnia and Empire and Games Workshop and Warhammer and WROhammer tancreddebeauville 13:26

Today we played with Maciej smaller game on 1300 points per side, he took his Empire and I took Bretonnians. We played our game on 7th edition.

Bretonnians started praying, so Empire decides to take initiative during turn one.
Knights of the Blazing Sun charged Knights of the Realm.
Warrior Priest issued challenge, so it was answered by Bretonnian lady.
Knights of Bretonnia pursued Knights of the Blazing Sun.
Empire Knights rallied, while mounted squires charged archers.
This time Knights of the Realm charged. Pegasus knight tried to advance toward archers.
Empire infantry turned.
Some evil spell was cast on pegasus, meanwhile squires were routed by archers.
Grail Knights meet they end – jet before one of them took with them warrior priest of Sigmar.
The end – Bretonnian Knights of the Realm came back to the field after pursuing off the board last Empire knight.

Summary:
– good game on smaller points.

 

WFB 7th: Bretonnia on Empire and Kislev Niedziela, Sty 23 2022

Yesterday we played with Jędrzej our first WFB ever – for me it was a pleasure – first time I played with Empire and Kislev against Bretonnians (I play Bretonnians since 1997’/1998′). We played on 2250 points in Bolter.pl, Wrocław, PL.

I did mistake and came into line of sight of Pegasus Knights – before I took one trebuchet crew.
Fly, fly!
Steam Tank advanced to take Grail Knights…
Lancers turned to face pegasus knights.
Knights Errant charged Empire Knights with they grandmaster Heinrich the Pious.
Grail Knights during charge did 8 wounds to Steam Tank.
Such amazing disaster.
Brave artillery crew held mounted squires.
Empire archers managed to kill pegasus knight.
Flank attack finally routed Knights Pannthers.
Knights Errants charged Steam Tank…
… and eliminated it from battle.
I’be back.

Summary:
– Bretonnian won this game, I believed that Steam Tank can do something, but after losing eight wounds during one combat it could just stay.
– Jędrzej played last time 8-10 years ago, but he still remember rules well.
– It was a pleasure to play that game.
– It’s great that playing other systems we still find ppl who played WFB and they return to game. We also find ppl who never played WFB and they start playing in it.

 

WFB 7th: The Empire & Kislev vs Vampire Counts Piątek, Sty 21 2022 

7th and Empire and Games Workshop and Kislev and Vampires and Warhammer and WROhammer tancreddebeauville 22:47

Today with Dudzio we played game on 2250 points. I took Empire and Kislev and Dudzio took Vampire Counts. We played in Bolter, Wrocław, PL.

Both armies ready, Dudzio won initiative but decided that I will start.
I rushed in Bretonnian style.
Then Ungols made retreat.
Ungols horse archers survived charge of Grave Guard.
Crews in panic.
Paniced unit forced to flee.
Cavalry and Steam Tank charged…
and were charged as well.
The end on turn three or four.

Summary:
– still learning about playing Empire and Kislev.
– Dudzio is learning to play Vampire Counts.
– at the moment we stopped – it was something near Draw or Minor Victory for Dudzio.

 

WFB 7th: Empire and Kislev vs hungry Ogres Niedziela, Gru 12 2021 

7th and Empire and Games Workshop and Kislev and Ogres and Warhammer tancreddebeauville 20:46

Today we played standard pitched battle on 2000 points.

  • Both armies prepared – Kriss won initiative and give me a chance to start first turn.
  • Wizards from Lore of Beast and Lore of Fire.
  • Again I played this army as I played with Bretonnia.
  • First loses among Kislev Winged Lancers, losed unit of Empire pistoliers.
  • With blocked line of sight I charged ogre lord – won combat – but he passed break test and bravely stood.
  • I managed to take three wounds from giant, unhapilly he was angry after that and run on my handgunners.
  • Rhinos charged Knights Panther.
  • More units fighting against Winged Lancers.
  • Winged Lancers destroyed, I charged on flanks with light cavalry.
  • Giant routed handgunners.
  • Dwarf mercenaries charged ogre tyrant in a desperate act to stop him.
  • Retreat!
  • We finished game after around 4 turns – as we don’t have more time.

Summary:
– has to paint some more infantry, war machines – for 2000 points I have too much cavalry.
– need to paint 10-15 Dwarfs, they seem to be great unit.

WFB 7th: Dwarfs vs Empire and Kislev Sobota, Paźdź 9 2021 

7th and Dwarfs and Empire and Games Workshop and Kislev and Warhammer tancreddebeauville 20:59

Today in sunny Wrocław (PL), we played friendly Polish Italian match in Warhammer Fantasy Battle 7th edition. First time I tried Steam Tank and need to learn how to use it.

I guess, that next time we should order some pizza to Bolter where we played (if we can of course).

  • Only wizard on the table – spells from lore of Beast.
  • Empire and Kislev battle line.
  • Both sides.
  • Dawi artillery hat Steam Tank and unhapilly damaged it.
  • Remnants of Knights Panthers fought well.
  • Steam Tank destroyed by Dawi cannons.
  • Artillery duel won at last by Dawi cannon of Alessandro. Before I hat his cannon twice and for first time roll 1 for wound, then, rolled one for how many wounds. Still, I had great rolls on armour saves.
  • Better and better in guesing ranges.

Summary:
– as many times before, it was great game with Alessandro, today I was massacred – but this is part of our hobby, still it depends on with whom you play.
– it was great to see Rafał, Generał and Krzysiek, still need to plan better our still small events (need to learn from Kris about multiple games).
– first time with Steam Tank – need to learn how to use it, maybe from General or Wuja.
– we agreed to play next Saturday, so everything before us>
– we spend some time of talking about rules – probably playing with 6th editions army books on 7th edition rulebook is better – still there are more models in 7th edition – we need to do a party like in Bilbo house and talk, play and talk.
