WFB: Empire and Kislev vs Night Goblins Czwartek, Sty 14 2021

On 14.01.2021 we played with Marian (from https://maniexite.blogspot.com/) small game – 1000 points per side, we played in 7th edition, still I used army book for 6th edition Empire. Both sides had everything painted, so it’s a kind of game I like. It happend somewhere in Kislev, on the border with World Edge Mountains.

Empire troops were composed of:
7 Knights Panther with full command group, lead by a captain (equiped as knights) with Banner of Valour
7 Kislev Winged Lancers with full command group, lead by a boyar (equiped as lancer) with Enchanted Shield
10 handgunners with marksman
2 x 5 Ungol Horse archers
Great Cannon

Night Goblins were composed of:
49 Night Goblins with full command group, three fanatics, lead by a hero with Mad Cap Mushrooms
30 Night Goblins with full command group, three fanatcis
10 Squig Hoppers
15 Squigs in a herd, pushed by 9 night goblins
3 Stone Trolls

Summary:
– great game with minor victory for Marian’s Night Goblins – it was 1031 for Marian vs 795 for me (we counted standards, generals, half of units and quarters).
– I really need to replace in such small games one heavy cavalry unit with infantry with detachment.
– there weren’t any magic spells in games and not many magic items at all.

WFB: Bretonnian archers Sobota, Sty 9 2021

Last time when I was painting at home with friends few months ago I decided to strip my old Bretonnians archers from old paint and repaint them. Then two or three months later I finished them. In late 90′ I took two units of archers in addition to two units of KoTR and I managed to get third place (don’t remember convent name – Szederiada or Melkoriada – event which happend on weekend in schoold on Romualda Traugutta in Wrocław). I won some blisters as well as 24 more Bretonnian archers – now I want to paint or repaint most of them.

I love Bretonnian fluff – especially that from 5th edition, as well from 1st edition of WFRP – when I was young I tried to combine both with strange effects. Then 6th edition and 2nd edition of WFRP happened. After years I can say – I prefer fluff from 5th edition rather than from 6th, but in case of diversity of units I prefer 6th over 5th (still miss some better infantry and better archers – like Bergerac company). Generally in case of fluff – I guess that no one could shoot longbow in 6th edition fluff – as commoners paid 90% tax to they lord – on Chaos where we are, too dark reality for me.

To paint them I used following paints and contrasts from Games Workshop:
– basecoated them using Wraith Bone.
– bases are Death Forest Green – as I realized that I’m not sure which colour replaced Goblin Green and after tests I liked that new paint.
– skin colour is Contrast Guilliman Flesh.
– belts, bags etc. Doombull Brown.
– bows, arrows were done by Contrast Wyldwood.
– uniforms were painted with Contrast Apothecary White and Contrast Talassar Blue.
– boots were painted with Contrast Black Templar.
– metal elements including helmets, buttons etc. Leadbelcher with Nuln Oil.
– fleur-de-lys on banner – first was Leadbelcher, then Zamestri Desert, then Auric Armour Gold and some wash with Reilkand Fleshshade.

WFB: Tristan le Troubadour and Jules le Jongleur Wtorek, Sty 5 2021

Last year I realized that I want to repaint Tristan and Jules. Firstly I painted them around 20 years ago, but it wasn’t great job and they had few layers of paints. So I strip them from old paints and repainted. I started painting those two on last day or days of 2020. Those two appeard in 5th edition Bretonnia army book, but also got they rules in 6th edition. In both edition they are balanced character/hero choice and I hope to use them in my games either as special characters or as musician for my Knight of the Realm unit. Now Tristan is ready to continue his quest to seek a Grail.

This character and more are here.

WFB: Hochland halbaldier Piątek, Sty 1 2021

First model painted in 2021 is old Empire clone halbaldier from time of 4th edition. Wanted to check which colours should I use for painting whole regiment (around 25-30 models). I painted him in colours of Hochland, green and red. So Karl is ready to defend Empire and is waiting for the rest of his unit.

Anyway wish great 2021, many painted models and played games, health and return of normality!

WFB: Empire engineer Poniedziałek, Gru 28 2020

Bought him along some other Empire troops on Polish internet shop Allegro, few years ago and painted him today. He will join small Empire battery from Bergsburg in Hochland. If I find some bits I will add him a bag or roll of paper. Still no idea how to name this character.

WFB: Empire and Kislev vs Tomb Kings vol.2 Wtorek, Gru 22 2020

Today with Kuba we played probably last time in 2020. Main reason is another lockdown which starts from 28th in Poland – I suppose that there will be no place to play until 17th of January. But let’s come back to our game. We played on 1600 points per side, using army books from 6th edition and rules from 7th edition.

Armies:
Empire and Kislev:
– Empire captain with Sword of Might and Icon of Magnus, full plate armour and barded warhorse
– Kislev boyar with Bitting Blade, Enchanted Shield, heavy armour, lance and warhorse.
– Empire lvl 2 wizard using Fire Magic with two Dispel Scrolls (never used, as we assumed, that I cannot dispel incantations with scrolls).
– 9 Knights Panthers with full command group and War Banner.
– 9 Winged Lancers with full command group.
– 10 Kislev Ungol archers with full command group.
– 5 Kislev Ungol archers with champion and musician.
– 10 Handgunners.
– 10 Great Swords.
– Great Cannon and Mortar.

Tomb Kings:
– Tomb Prince and two liches (don’t remember what they had).
– around 25-30 Tomb Guards.
– unit of 20 skeleton archers.
– around 25-30 skeletons with spears.
– 4 Carrions.
– Screaming Skull catapult.

Summary:
– my second game with other WFB army than Bretonnia, decided to use heavy cavalry working together.
– did nothing with my artillery, the same with Kuba’s catapult.
– I won minor victory. It was 818 points I got versus 512 points got by Kuba on me.

WFB: Empire and Kislev vs Tomb Kings Sobota, Gru 12 2020

Somewhere in Border Princes ancient tomb was discovered in heavily forested area. Area was heavily influenced by magic. Two groups of adventurers never returned and from third one only one hero returned totally insane. Empire along it Kislev ally gathered troops, as only survivor told horrific story about legion of living death.

We played with Jakub on 1600 points per side in Aga i Ala shop in Wrocław.

Armies:
Empire and Kislev:
– Empire captain with Sword of Might and Icon of Magnus, full plate armour and barded warhorse
– Kislev boyar with Bitting Blade, Enchanted Shield, heavy armour, lance and warhorse.
– Empire lvl 2 wizard using Fire Magic with Dispel Scroll and Wizard’s Staff.

– around 25 Tomb Guards.
– two units of 10 skeleton archers.
– 3 Ushabanti.
– 3 Carrions.
– Casket of Souls and Screaming Skull catapult (yes, we knew that it shouldn’t happen as both are Rare choice).

Summary:
– my first game with other WFB army than Bretonnia, around one hundred models for Empire still wait for painting, then I can start with Lizardmen. As I play with only painted models, I need to paint them.
– did some mistakes, probably I should place all heavy cavalry – right flank, not left.
– now I will remember – champion of Kislev Ungol archers have one more attack, he don’t have higher Ballistic Skill.
– Casket of Souls is dangerous for troops with low morale.
– I losed this battle – it was medium victory for Tomb Kings. Generally treasures of the crypt are still save.

WFB: artillery of Hochland Wtorek, Gru 8 2020

Finally I managed to finish some Imperial artillery for Hochland.

WFB: Bretonnia vs Tomb Kings Sobota, Gru 5 2020

Today with Kuba we played small pitched battle on 1000 points per side. Bretonnians wanted to take ancient Khemri relicts, but there were guardians – Tomb Kings raised from they graves to defend they treasure from Bretonnian thiefs.

We played in Aga i Ada in Leclerc – they have more terrains for 40k, so our board was empty, ruined part of Nekkekharan city. So there is another shop new for me, where we can play tabletop games in Wrocław (others are Bolter.pl on Podwale, Planszoweczka.pl in Astra and on Bielany and Feniks on Kołłątaja).

From Bretonnian side:
– 10 peasant archers in skirmish
– 6 Knights of the Realm (full command group)
– 20 men at arms with spears (full command group)
– 5 Grail Knights (full command group)
– paladin, battle standard bearer and damsel of the Lady.

From Tomb Kings side:
– 25 Tomb Guards (full command group)
– 20 archers
– Screaming skull catapult
– scorpion
– if I’m correct – priest and one more hero.

Summary:
– it was interesting game, as I don’t remember when I played against Tomb Kings – I remember games against Vampires.
– Grail Knights killed scorpion plus in some way catapult, as it got misfire when was shooting against them and was destroyed.
– I should charge archers with every knight, so probably I would get in touch with Tomb Guards faster.
– my battle standard bearer (Grail Vow, Sword of Might and Gromril Great Helm) plus KoTR unit – the most succesfull units from this battle.
– Men at arms – this game they were here – never get into combat. Archers did nothing as well.

WFB: Empire and Kislev cavalry Wtorek, List 24 2020

Twenty three years ago (1997′) I read article about WFB in PC games magazine Gambler and around this I started collecting Bretonnians, who was my first and for around fifteen years my only army. I was young and played Warcraft and WFB was interesting for me. Now Bretonnia is still my favourite army, but I wanted to have few other armies – so here are small cavalry contingent of Empire and Kislev cavalry:
– unit of Knights Panther of Inner Circle from Middenheim, lead by grandmaster Heinrich the Pious.
– unit of Kislev Winged Lancers from town Wrotizla.
– two units of Kislev Ungol riders, one composed of Gospodars and another bigger one from friendly Ungol tribe – who are employed as mercenaries.

With addition of two more small unit’s of pistoliers this army will be highly mobile. In addition there will be two infantry units: spearmens and halberdiers with detachments plus cannon and mortar. In 4th edition there will be also unit of Empire Dwarfs.
