Black Powder: Battle for the river crossing Czwartek, Wrz 2 2021

Today we played small Black Powder game with Damian in Bolter.pl. Typically Black Powder games looks better with many batallions of infantry and regiments of cavalry formed in brigades. Today we played equal forces of infatry brigade composed of two infantry batallions each plus battery of artillery attached. There were also brigade of cavalry composed of one regiment on each side.

  • Russians arrived first and one one failed orders.
  • Then British and soldiers from Hannover arrived.
  • British cavalry crossed river when Polish cavalry regiments stopped they move befor the ford.
  • British cavalry charged Russian 1st batallion, so Russians formed square.
  • Round later orders were issued to form attack column and bayonnet charge.
  • Hannover infantry bravely stood they ground.
  • Joined by British hussars they broke Russians.
  • Artillery shoot at cavalry, but loses among the British were too low, to broke them.
  • Another Russians left the field.
  • Everyone shooting at uhlans and Russian infantry.
  • Russian brigade was routed by Damian’s force.

Summary:
– it’s nice format to play, still few more batallions and it could be even better.
– good occasion to meet some friends and talk about other systems.
– I realized that my top three systems for bigger games are:
1. Warhammer Fantasy Battle 4-7th editions.
2. Black Powder.
3. Bolt Actions.
– for skirmish I’m not sure, but probably:
1. Sharp Practice.
2. wish to play Mordheim or Warheim as I like Warhammer world (thank you old team from Games Workshop).
3. wish to came back to Fallout Wasteland Warfare.

 

Black Powder: Civil war Sobota, Sier 14 2021

Today we played our monthly game in Black Powder, one one side was Arek with British and Portugal, on the other were Bartek, Tomek and me with British and Russians. So in someway it was civil war beetwen British .

  • Both forces deployed, without Russian brigade.
  • Tomek’s British.
  • Bartek’s British and first battalion of Russians which arrived moment ago.
  • Arek’s British advanced toward Tomek’s line.
  • View from our left flank.
  • Portuguese advanced forward…
  • … and started shooting.
  • View from right flank. Portuguese cavalry doing outflanking maneuver.
  • In the middle both sides started shooting.
  • More Russians arrived, jet they doesn’t wanted to perform orders.
  • Portuguese advanced to fight British from front and Russians on flank.
  • What is on this map? I don’t understand this strange symbols, do they know cyrillica?
  • Fight for small shrine in the center. British infantry charged on flank by Portuguese cavalry.
  • British infantry repelled in hand to hand combat Portuguese cavalry.
  • Then started shooting at them.
  • In the middle Portuguese unit came close to British and continued firing.
  • Finally Polish uhlans understood order and charged…
  • … but enemy was ready to…
  • …
  • British against Portuguese cavalry.
  • But enemy formation formed square with final result of uhlans turn back.
  • Uhlans managed to retreat.
  • British close to brok Portugal cavalry.
  • Portugal cannons hiding behind trees.
  • Another uhlans charge and again retreat.
  • British infantry won against cavalry.
  • Another Biritish brigade of Arek broken.
  • Portuguese remain unbroken.
  • Bartek’s brigade is also marching off the field.
  • Brave Portuguese.

Summary:
– my artillery studied maps off the field for whole time.
– it was great game – usually there were more generals and bigger table.
– one of those big battles with all models painted.
– need to paint another officer group, to make separate cavalry regiment.
– thank you everyone for game.

 

Black Powder: Battle of many nations Niedziela, Lip 18 2021 

Austria and Black Powder - Napoleonic Wars and French and Italia and Polish and Russians and Spain and United Kingdom and Warlord Games tancreddebeauville 00:20

Today we played a battle which we play monthly – big battle with many participants – there were two Russian brigades my and Michał, Marian’s Austrian brigade, British brigade of Bartosz and on the other side French brigades of Mikołaj, Gargamel’s Italian brigade and Spanish brigade of Grzegorze. Thank you Bolter.pl for terrains and place we played. Our brigades started marching on the roads – each player came from different direction. There were three sides of conflict – Austria and Russia, United Kingdom and Spain and French with Italy. There were also Krzysiek as gamekeeper.

  • From bottom – on right Russians, then tin the middle Italians, after them on left British. On the top left Spanish, in the Middle Austrians and on top left French.
  • Russian brigades arrived.
  • Austrians came too.
  • British advanced.
  • Uhlans scouting area.
  • When Russians marched forward to the crossroads, Italians crossed bridge using one batallion, the other one took objective – which was farm animals.
  • Italian batallion took animals.
  • Uhlans charged by Spanish counter charged and won. In the middle Austrians took positions to the front and also left and right flank.
  • French cavalry arrived.
  • Uhlans galloped after Spanish cavalry fled.
  • Battle for the bridge started, also Russian on north realized that Spanish took a village.
  • The last action of uhlans, defeating Spanish cavalry – then they started reading map and squabling.
  • British valiantrly fighting against French.
  • Austrians took cavalry charge in they flank.
  • One of the Austrian batallion started shooting on fortified Spanish.
  • French cavalry in action.
  • Russian artillery started shooting on the Spanish inside village.
  • That way! No that way – this village is not so big on the map. I guess that four rounds of game I failed giving any order to move.
  • Austrians repelled French cavalry and waiting for infantry. Clash for a bridge going on.
  • British standing against French.
  • Battle for a bridge going on, one Italian batallion was broken.
  • Russians crossed bridge, another Russian brigade charged Spanish fortified in the village.
  • French fighting with English and Austrians.
  • Heavy hand to hand combat going on.
  • French surrounded by British.
  • Russians crossed a bridge – Italians left with farm animals.
  • Fight beetwen Austrians and French.
  • My third batallion stayed there due to a problems with issuing orders.
  • Heavy fighting going on.
  • British close to a farm.
  • Russians came too late, still crossed a bridge.
  • Hand to hand combat beetwen Austrians and French.
  • Generally end of battle with a score: Draw.
  • Need to learn how to roll low on orders. My brigade was staying for four turns at least.

Summary:
– It was great game, thanks everyone – will try to update some informations about this battle soon.
– Next time need to split my brigade on two – one composed of infantry and another one of cavalry, as I had all time issues with giving order. Need to paint more cavalry – not sure if I can do it, I have a month.

– After game with Bartosz we went for some lunch to the nearest pub SOTE – wine pub & food and next to Tacos Locos – hope next time more people will go with us.

 

Black Powder: Hold the ground! (EN🇬🇧/PL🇵🇱) Sobota, Czer 26 2021

🇵🇱 Dzisiaj rozegraliśmy większą bitwę w Black Powder. W centrum wydarzeń znajdowały się dwa dwory – jednego broniły moje oddziały rosyjskie, a drugiego Włosi Gargamela. Po naszej stronie walczyły również dwa kontyngenty brytyjskie dowodzone przez Damiana i Tomka. Naprzeciw stanęli Francuzi Mariana, Wirtemberczycy Krisa oraz Neapolitańczycy i Wirzburczycy Bartka. Ostatecznie nie pamiętam już dokładnie, jak rozstrzygnęły się losy obu dworów.

🇬🇧 Today we played a larger Black Powder battle. Two manor houses were at the centre of the action – one defended by my Russians and the other by Gargamel’s Italians. Fighting alongside us were the two British contingents commanded by Damian and Tomek. On the opposing side stood Marian’s French, Kris’s Württembergers, and Bartek’s Neapolitans and Würzburgers. In the end, I do not clearly remember how the fate of the manor houses was decided.

🇵🇱 Podsumowanie:
– Black Powder to naprawdę świetna gra – dzięki mojemu dealerowi od bitewniaków, Marianowi, wkręciłem się na dobre, choć niestety z malowaniem nie idzie mi już tak szybko. Na przeszkodzie stoi niestety Cyberpunk 2077.
– Myślę, że mamy szansę zbudować świetną społeczność wokół wszystkich systemów związanych z epoką Black Powder – mam na myśli Black Powder, Sharp Practice i podobne gry.
– Od Bartka wiemy, że w Pradze istnieje lokalna społeczność grająca w Black Powder; mam nadzieję, że uda nam się z nimi nawiązać kontakt.
– Dzięki Rafałowi za tereny i Bolter.pl za udostępnienie miejsca do gry.
– Dzięki Bartkowi, Damianowi, Grześkowi, Krzyśkowi, Marianowi i Tomkowi za świetną grę.
– Bistro Narożnik ma świetne pierogi – to mój ulubiony lokal na Nadodrzu we Wrocławiu. Dobrze, że przetrwał tę całą „plandemię”.
– Chcę wspierać nasze hobby we Wrocławiu – Bolter.pl, Planszóweczkę.pl, Adę i Agę. Gdziekolwiek będziemy grać, będę to dopisywał pod raportem. Brakuje mi Centrum Gier Bitewnych, starego Barda i Sfana, ale pojawiły się ich godne zastępstwa.

🇬🇧 Summary:
– Black Powder is really nice game, thank you to my game dealer Marian – I’m involved, jet not so fast with painting – unhapilly there is Cyberpunk 2077 which is blocker.
-I guess that we have a chance to build great community in all systems related to Black Powder era – I mean Black Powder, Sharp Practice etc.
– from Bartek we know, that in Praga there is local community playing Black Powder, hope we can find a contact with them.

– Bistro Narożnik have great dumplings – they are my favourite pub on Nadodrze in Wrocław. Great that they survived plandemy.

Black Powder: Unexpected alliance (EN🇬🇧/PL🇵🇱) Sobota, Maj 29 2021

🇵🇱 W sobotę, 29 maja 2021 roku, Marian, Jędrzej i ja graliśmy po jednej stronie, dowodząc siłami francuskimi, polskimi i rosyjskimi, podczas gdy Tomek i Damian objęli dowództwo nad armią brytyjsko-hanowerską. Każda ze stron wystawiła sześć brygad. W tej alternatywnej wersji historii zakładam, że car uznał panowanie Napoleona i wspólnie podzielili między siebie Europę – jednak Zjednoczone Królestwo nadal stawiało im opór.

🇬🇧 On Saturday, 29 May 2021, Marian, Jędrzej, and I played on one side, commanding French, Polish, and Russian forces, while Tomek and Damian took command of the British and Hanoverian army. Each side fielded six brigades. In this alternate version of history, I assume that the Tsar had accepted Napoleon’s rule and that together they had divided Europe between them – yet the United Kingdom still stood against them.

🇵🇱 Podsumowanie:
– Bardzo przyjemna gra z dużą liczbą figurek na stole – nadal muszę uzupełnić swoją rosyjską brygadę o jeszcze jeden batalion.
– Dobra lekcja na przyszłość: nie rzucać kością, zanim faktycznie wyda się rozkaz jednostce.
– Mam nadzieję, że następnym razem będę miał do dyspozycji jeszcze więcej pomalowanych żołnierzy, być może także rosyjskich ułanów.

🇬🇧 Summary:
– A very enjoyable game with lots of miniatures on the table – I still need to complete my Russian brigade by adding one more battalion.
– A good lesson for the future: do not roll before actually giving the unit its order.
– Hopefully next time I will have even more painted soldiers available, perhaps including some Russian uhlans.

 

Black Powder: Wrażenia z pierwszej gry (🇬🇧EN/🇵🇱PL) Sobota, Mar 20 2021

🇵🇱 Dziś rozegrałem swoją pierwszą partię w Black Powder oraz pierwszą grę w sklepie Bolter. Zagraliśmy scenariusz trzy na trzy, w którym głównym celem było zdobycie i utrzymanie klasztoru. Ponieważ nie mam jeszcze wielu pomalowanych rosyjskich modeli, skorzystałem z pożyczonych figurek, uzupełniając je moim jedynym w pełni pomalowanym batalionem wraz z dowództwem.

To była bardzo ciekawa rozgrywka. Grałem w drużynie z Damianem (Portugalczycy) i Rafałem (Brytyjczycy) przeciwko Adamowi (Legia Nadwiślańska), Marianowi i Mikołajowi (Francuzi).

🇬🇧 Today I played my first game of Black Powder and my first game at the Bolter shop. We played a three-on-three scenario where the main objective was to secure and hold a monastery. As I don’t have many painted Russian models, I used some borrowed ones along with my only fully painted battalion and its command group.

It was an interesting game. I teamed up with Damian (Portuguese) and Rafał (British) against Adam (Vistula Legion), Marian, and Mikołaj (French).

🇵🇱 Podsumowanie:
– Moja pierwsza gra w Bolterze i zarazem pierwsza rozgrywka w Black Powder. Lista świetnych miejsc do grania we Wrocławiu wciąż się wydłuża – zawsze z przyjemnością gram w Planszowka.pl (to tam wróciłem do hobby, zamawiając WFB/Bolt Action jeszcze przed startem AoS) oraz u Agi i Ady. Mam nadzieję wrócić do Boltera, przynajmniej po to, by pograć i nauczyć się więcej Black Powder.
– Miły powrót do epoki napoleońskiej. Myślę, że warto byłoby poczytać więcej o tym okresie i jego jednostkach.
– Gra napisana przez Ricka Priestleya i Jervisa Johnsona nie może być zła – jest naprawdę przyjemna i nieco inna od systemów, do których jestem przyzwyczajony.
– Wstyd się przyznać, że większość mojej armii nie jest pomalowana – poza dowódcą, jednym batalionem piechoty i dwoma działami. Najpierw muszę dokończyć trochę WFB, a potem wrócić do Black Powder.
– Mam nadzieję, że to nie była moja ostatnia gra. Graliśmy we Wrocławiu, na Dolnym Śląsku – działa tu grupa na Facebooku „Wrocławscy Bonapartyści”.

🇬🇧 Summary:
– My first game at Bolter and my first game of Black Powder. The list of great places to play in Wrocław keeps growing – I always enjoy playing at Planszowka.pl (I got back into the hobby by ordering WFB/Bolt Action from them before AoS started) and at Aga and Ada. I hope to return to Bolter, at least to play and learn more Black Powder.
– A nice return to the Napoleonic era. I think it would be a good idea to read more about that period and its units.
– A game written by Rick Priestley and Jervis Johnson can’t be bad – it’s really enjoyable and a bit different from the systems I’m used to.
– Shame on me that most of my army isn’t painted, apart from the commander, one infantry battalion, and two cannons. I need to finish some WFB and then get back to Black Powder.
– Hopefully, this won’t be my last game. We played in Wrocław, Lower Silesia – there’s a Facebook group called “Wrocławscy Bonapartyści.”
