General d’Armee – Blow after blow (🇬🇧EN/🇵🇱PL) Niedziela, Czer 19 2022

🇵🇱 Wczoraj Tomek i ja rozegraliśmy kolejną treningową partię w General d’Armee.

Tomek dowodził Brytyjczykami, a ja prowadziłem siły złożone z Rosjan i innych europejskich kontyngentów, ponieważ chcieliśmy użyć wyłącznie pomalowanych figurek.

🇬🇧 Yesterday, Tomek and I played another training game of General d’Armee. We are still using smaller armies than those suggested in the rulebook and leaving out some of the rules, as including everything at this stage would make learning the game much more difficult. We do plan to return to those rules in the near future.

On Saturday, we once again played with relatively small forces deployed on the table – no Fog of War, no reserves, and all units visible from the start – simply the easiest way for us to learn the system. Tomek commanded the British, while I led a force made up of Russians and other European contingents, as we wanted to use only painted miniatures.

We played on a standard 48″ x 72″ table representing a crossroads and several different types of terrain, some of which counted as difficult ground and reduced movement by half. All units in both armies were Regular, with the exception of the British infantry, while the artillery batteries were rated as Elite. Each side fielded four regiments and had up to four ADC dice available.

🇵🇱 Podsumowanie:

🇬🇧 Summary:
– At this stage, I can already see that there are some more important rules we need to start using in our games. For now, however, we are focusing on the core mechanics, as we want to learn them properly.
– We plan to introduce more rules next time. There are several different types of soldiers available in the system, so in my opinion armies for standard pick-up games should be built using the points system. Irregular Cossacks or freshly recruited troops behave very differently from Regulars, Veterans, or Elite units.
– The rulebook also specifies which formations can be considered Elite -famous units such as the Guards, the 95th Regiment, and so on. This is something that will require more investigation in the future, as the bulk of most armies consisted of Regulars or recruits, with only a few exceptions.Units can also vary in size, being classed as small, standard, or large.
– We deploy them in much the same way as we do in Black Powder.Ranges and movement are shorter than in Black Powder. Muskets have a firing range of 9″, while rifles are much more effective, which gives another good reason to use skirmishing units such as Jägers. I really need to paint a unit of that infantry myself. Units also move less than in Black Powder, which I see as a plus – after all, our tables are not made of rubber 🙂
– I discovered some useful things on this blog: Sir Able Brush and on this blog Chasseur Acheval – there is useful army creator – really nice work. On second blog I found some ruleset called 321 – Fast Play Napoleonic Rules.
– there will be more about General d’Armee on my blog, just need time – me and people I play.

General d’Armee – First blood (🇬🇧EN/🇵🇱PL) Sobota, Czer 18 2022

🇵🇱 W zeszły piątek Kuba „Karaś” i ja w końcu rozegraliśmy naszą pierwszą partię w General d’Armee.

🇬🇧 Last Friday, Kuba “Karaś” and I finally played our first game of General d’Armee. It was a chance to try something new, as this was our first time with the system. We decided to skip some of the special rules, such as Fog of War, which looks like a very interesting addition once we become more familiar with the core mechanics. At first, all those tables seemed quite intimidating, but once we got started, everything became much clearer.

🇵🇱 Podsumowanie:

🇬🇧 Summary:
– thank you Kuba for a game, it’s seems that we will play in it in the future. It was our first game, so I try to think all things I saw during our game play in General d’Armee.
– we played six turns, so it was good game on Friday evening, we started around 19 and finished a little before 22:00.
– thank you Rafał for proposing rulebook for General d’Armee, after some talk how to improve playing in Napoleonic times. I still like Black Powder from Warlord Games, but we should also play system from TooFatLardies studio.
– there will be one more article when I gather my thoughts – as on Friday (17.06) I played first game and on Saturday (18.06) I played another game with Tomek.

Bolters Birthday, Black Powder, Gods of War: Robert E. Lee and others Sobota, Czer 4 2022

Today Bolter celebrated it 5th birthday in current localization on Podwale, Wrocław, Poland. There were many different tables with different systems – like Bolt Action, Black Powder, Gods of War: Robert E. Lee, Star Wars and others. I promised that I will be on Black Powder, but I managed to take some photos from interesting battles in Gods of War and from Star Wars with famous AT-AT taking part in the struggle on Endor. Today I played with comrade Michał as combined Russian&Poles and Spanish brigades, on other side were French of Jędrzej and Germans lead by Damian. It was nice to see that people were observing our struggle.

Summary:

  • thank you Bolters team for great place to meet and play – for all time smart talk, advice, great atmosphere – to Adam, Basiorek, Kuba, Piotrek, Rafał, Wiktoria. You all do a great job!
  • many great people I meet here and know that there are much more I don’t know.
  • wish happy birthday, hundred years and better times!
  • With Michał we failed and that bad French and Germans won battle.
Let’s say – soldiers should stay on the tables. Real soldiers should shake hands, politicians should avoid wars.

Black Powder: A road into the Alpine Mountains Sobota, Maj 28 2022

Today we played scenario done by „Gargamel” – there were Adam Polish Vistula Legion, Bartosz and Jędrzej French on one side and Kuba Prussians, Tomek British and my Russians on the other side. French were escorting some important guns and others had to prevent them from doing it. On right side of the table were Alpine Mountains were French army was marching.

Summary:
– nice game, but too many random situations. I think that we need to update some rules.
– battle was over after turn 5 and several unlucky charges done by French cavalry.

Black Powder: France vs Prussia&Russia (🇬🇧EN/🇵🇱PL) Sobota, Kwi 23 2022

🇬🇧 Today we planned to recreate the Battle of Katzbach (Polish: Kaczawa), but Rafał, who came up with the idea, couldn’t make it. Instead, we played a game with Prussia (Jakub) and Russia (me) against the forces of Napoleonic France (Jędrzej).

We played at Bolter and used all those beautiful terrain pieces from their storage. Thank you, Adam and Rafał, for everything today. Both sides had to control the key crossroads and the graveyard in the center to win the battle.

🇵🇱 Podsumowanie:
– Było to zwycięstwo sojuszu prusko-rosyjskiego,
– Świetna gra – dziękuję Kubie, Jędrzejowi oraz ekipie Boltera,
– To jeden z najprostszych i najtańszych systemów na start,
– Niestety, dzisiaj było nas tylko trzech.

🇬🇧 Summary:
– it was victory of Prussian-Russian alliance,
– great game – thank you Kuba and Jędrzej and Bolter staff,
– it’s one of the simplest and cheapest system to start,
– unfortunately there were only three of us today.

Black Powder: Let’s start in Anno Domini 2022 Sobota, Sty 22 2022

Today we played on small battle (only three of us arrived – me, Jędrzej and Karaś) in Black Powder 2nd edition. On one side were French and on the other Spain and Russia. We played in Bolter.pl – Wrocław, PL. Many thanks for Bolter crew – today Basiorek and Rafał, as we got all terrains we need (today I was there around 6th hours).

Summary:
– great game as always, thank you developers from Warlord Games for it (many old game developers responsible for my belowed WFB).
– we had some mindfuck with some rules, as we missed Krisu and Damian, still we had fun.
– Wrocław, PL – is open to play with ppl from other countries 🙂 .
– I know I had to paint more, thank you Marian for friendy reminder! To be shure, when I’m happy with painted batallion, Marian paints army.
– wish all great weekend!

Music I love, even if policy sucks I like Russians and normality in contacts with Russia and Bialorussia. Let’s remember tragic fate of Romanow family.

Black Powder: Battle for a river crossing Sobota, Paźdź 30 2021

Today in Wrocław we played our monthly Black Powder game. Today we played Great Britain against unusual alliance of France and Russian Empire. Today British side focused on crossing river (cross it with 13 infantry battalions/cavalry regiments) in four places (two bridges and two fords), French and Russian tried to stop them.

Summary:
– again great game played in Bolter.pl.
– thank you all for today game.

Black Powder: Albion vs European alliance Niedziela, Wrz 19 2021

Today we played big game in Black Powder on one side were Damians and Tomeks British, on other side were Kris French, Grzegorz Prussians, Jędrzej Spanish and Portugals and my Russians with Polish uhlan regiment. Our target was to secure both bridges. We played our game in Bolter.pl.

Summary:
– it was good game – we played around 3,5 hours.
– I missed few photos, as Grzesiek cavalry brigade was looking for a ford and they charged on Damians cavalry, routing them.

Sharp Practice: Russia vs Wittenberg Poniedziałek, Lip 26 2021

Today we started new campaing with Krzysiek – during last one my Russians did not found moonshine recipe, so they changed area. Last time we played Russian – French campaign, now we started with Russia vs Wittenberg.

Summary:
I guess that if you want to have fun from cavalry – u need to take them more – they are really cheap – group of 8 costs 5 points plus leader in case of uhlans. Maybe two groups of 16 can do special things.
– we played on 61 points in Bolter.pl.
– Sharp Practice is great system for narrative playing – one Krzysiek leaders broke his leg, other one was heavily wounded by Russian Jagers bullet.

Black Powder: Austria vs Russia, somewhere in Galizia Piątek, Lip 23 2021

Today we played small, fast game in Black Powder with Marian from Maniexite – direct link to his Austrians is here. He played 6th army corps of Hiller,
2nd division of Kottulinski:
– Hoffmeister’s brigade, 31st pulk of Bieniowskis Hungarian infantry.
– Wallmoden’s brigade, 7th pulk of Liechtensteins hussars, 8th pulk of Kienmayers hussars, half battery of 6th pounders guns.
Reserve corps of Liechtenstein:
– 2nd division of Prochaszkas grenadiers, brigade Steyrer composed of Legrad grenadiers from 9, 55 i 56 infantry pulks.
4th army corps of Rozenberg:
– 4th column of Bartenstein, Newstädters brigade, 9th pulk of Czartoryskis German infantry (Galizien).
Awangards of Klenau:
– 1st Jagers batallion.

My Russians were composed of three batallions of infantry from modern day eastern Poland and Bialorussia (former territories of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth), Polish Uhlans in Tzar service and battery of cannons.

We played in centre of Wrocław – Bolter.pl, thank you for table and terrains.

Summary:
it was great, fast game of forces composed of one brigade per side – this game is great in big battles as well as in smaller ones.
– as Marian said many times – forces many times weren’t equal – we weren’t sure if this time they were – it’s observation after the battle. But everyone can imagine 300 of Spartans against much more Persians, Wohlynian cavalry brigade fighting against German panzers during 1939′, defense of Paris against Vikings, battle of Vienna 1683 were besieged capital of Austria held until release force of Poland, German states and Austria itself released city from the siege, Rohan warriors defending Helms Deep, Gotrek and Felix fighting to the last goblin – forces weren’t equal many times. Our history or fantasy – doesn’t matter. Battles weren’t equal. Thank you Marian for those words.
– I will try in the future write something more about this system – at least about orders, as this is that kind of game – when you give order to batallion or brigade you need to tell – march to the crossroads with a chapel, reform into battle column and march to bridge – if you fail, unit can read map and say – that village is not exist, are we on the appropriate road?
– our community is located in Wrocław and we are open for international contacts as well as contacts inside our country – here is our page: Wrocławscy Bonapartyści.
– let’s have nice weekend friends!
