Podsumowanie/Summary of 2025 (🇬🇧EN/🇵🇱PL) Środa, Gru 31 2025

Nowy rok to dobry moment, by pomyśleć o zmianach.

Do ulubieńców wciąż należą Cesarewicz, Koriejc, Nowik i Wariag.

Przy okazji zacząłem kompletować Kaiserliche Marine, by mieć flotę zdolną stanąć naprzeciw Marine Nationale Cornholio.

Trzecim systemem, do którego wróciłem, był Bolt Action. Trzecia edycja początkowo mnie nie przekonała, więc zrobiłem sobie kilkumiesięczną przerwę. Wszystko zmieniły wyjazdy do Poznania i tamtejsza fantastyczna ekipa.

W planach mamy m.in. bitwę o Budapeszt, powrót do Finlandii, obronę Moskwy oraz — obowiązkowo — D-Day w czerwcu.

A wszystko to dzięki mojej przewodniczce – dziękuję!

Dużo zdrowia, sukcesów w życiu prywatnym i zawodowym, czasu na hobby, pozytywnej energii i mnóstwa świetnych gier — lokalnych, międzymiastowych i międzynarodowych.

Z serdecznymi pozdrowieniami i życzeniem pokoju,
Mirek

🇬🇧 The time has come to reflect on the departing year 2025 — a year that was particularly significant in my personal life. A restructuring at a company where I felt very comfortable affected me as well. After several months of searching for new employment, I began to realize that perhaps the moment had come to try something completely different from my previous work as a tester. A new year is a good time to think about change.

Unfortunately, it was also a year of farewells. After more than 12 years, I had to say goodbye to my beloved tomcat Bono, whom I had had since he was a kitten. Even now, I sometimes catch myself looking for him around the apartment — in baskets, on chairs, in the places he loved most. Without a doubt, this was one of the hardest things that happened this year.

Thankfully, in terms of tournaments and hobby life, 2025 was much brighter. I took part in organizing our Wrocław master tournament in Middle-earth SBG, previously known as the Individual Championships of the Universe, and I am also involved in organizing the upcoming Individual Wrocław Championships: Khazad Wrocław 2026. On top of that, there were fantastic tournaments in Bielsko-Biała and Bydgoszcz, and the list of cities I’d still like to visit includes Katowice, Kielce, Kraków, Lublin, and Warsaw. There was also no shortage of local tournaments in which I participated.

Together with Cornholio, we also managed to kick off games based on book-and-film scenarios from the world of The Lord of the Rings, which attracted many new and fantastic people — both from Gdzie Był Wrocław and from outside our group. I also had the opportunity to teach the game and encourage others to keep playing — something I’m very proud of. From the new year onward, I’m stepping away from the role of teacher, leaving it to Cornholio and Frank, who do it far better than I do, while I’ll focus even more on running the profile of Gdzie Był Wrocław.

In Middle-earth, I continue to lead Gondor into battle — in the form of the Ithilien Garrison and the Reclamation of Osgiliath, with short breaks for Return of the King and getting carried away by At the Top of the Walls ahead of the last Polish Team Championships — after chatting with Waluś, I actually started believing in those central trebuchet hits.. Mordor is still waiting its turn — ideas are plentiful, even if motivation is temporarily lacking.

The second system I played intensively was Bogowie Wojny: Togo, a game created by my friends from GM Boardgames. I managed to take part in several tournaments, including a very enjoyable event in Głogów and the Polish Championships in Wrocław, held at the historic venue on Bishop Nankier Street. There were also numerous narrative games, including clashes with Martians near Kronstadt and in the English Channel.

I’m glad that the system’s creators listen to player feedback and introduce changes based on real gameplay experience. I continue to play the Rossiyskiy Imperatorskiy Flot, which expanded this year to include, among other things, a portrait of Tsar Nicholas II and the excellent Vladivostok Squadron — Gromoboi, Rossiya, and Rurik. My long-time favorites remain Cesarevich, Koreyets, Novik, and Varyag. This year clearly belonged to the Pacific Fleet, although the Baltic Fleet was reinforced with Oslyabya.

At the Polish Championships, I surprised not only others but myself as well — after three great games on the first day, I was sitting in 10th place in a 40-player tournament. The second day brought a drop in the rankings, but the games were still fantastic and memorable. Along the way, I also started collecting the Kaiserliche Marine so I’d have a fleet capable of facing Cornholio’s Marine Nationale. I post many games from Bogowie Wojny: Togo, as well as from other systems, on the Tancred’s Tabletop Tales Facebook profile — HERE.

The third system I returned to was Bolt Action. The third edition didn’t win me over at first, so I took a few months’ break. Everything changed after trips to Poznań and meeting the fantastic local community there. Thanks to them — and to the Fubar Team, which Cornholio and I originally founded just for fun — I returned to the game. The team has grown, gained its own Facebook profile, and regularly travels to tournaments.

Our plans include, among other things, the Battle of Budapest, a return to Finland, the defense of Moscow, and — obligatorily — D-Day in June. Tournament-wise, Finland dominated this year, while outside tournaments the Red Army was the most frequent presence on the tables.

There was also no shortage of other systems: Oak & Iron, Sharp Practice, a return to Team Yankee, several very enjoyable games of Ogniem i Mieczem, and fairly regular sessions of Blood Red Skies. Each of these systems contributed its own brick to a very intense hobby year.

I also managed to visit Prague — to see places I hadn’t known before, visit the crypt where Czech resistance fighters drew their last breath fighting the German occupier, and discover a completely new side of the city. All of this thanks to my guide — thank you! This time there was no Warhammer Fantasy Battle — for the first time in years — but everything suggests it’s only a temporary break.

To conclude this rather long post, I’d like to wish everyone:

🎆 A Happy New Year 2026!
May it be better than the previous one — and certainly no worse. Wishing you good health, success in your personal and professional lives, time for your hobbies, positive energy, and plenty of great games — local, intercity, and international.

With warm regards and wishes of peace,
Mirek

General d’Armee: A battle for Badrolls village Niedziela, List 19 2023

Today in Wrocław, PL we play a game in General d’Armee in Bolter. Battle had place in area of villages Badrolls and Worserolls placed somewhere in continental Europe. On one side were French and Württemberg lead by generals Jędrzej and Kris, on the other side were anti-napoleonic coalition of Russia and United Kingdom lead by me and general Tomas.

Before battle started some agents managed to do some things in British-Russian camp – damaged black powder, add some extra stuff to food etc.

Summary:
– with my ally general Tomas we tried to do anything to win or at least to hold positions, but without results. It was a curse of that place – villages Badrolls and Worserolls will stay in our memory forever.
– thank you to Jędrzej, Kris and Tomek for a great game and to Adam who sat with us on this rainy Sunday in Wrocław.
– anyway, I don’t remember when I had so many, so bad rolls in General d’Armee – I wasn’t alone, general Tomas had in critical moments the same rolls as me. Wet black powder, soldier who ate food with poison before battle started, broken cavalry equipment etc. Anyway, next time will be better 🙂 !

To our „enemies” some music!

General d’Armee: Enemies like from Austerlitz Poniedziałek, Paźdź 9 2023

On Autumn Sunday (08.10.2023) in Wrocław gaming club Bolter we played our monthly weekend game in General d’Armee. There were a lot of us, as I don’t remember when last time we played game with seven people. Today we had game three on three and one of us was Game Master – thank you Goldfish! One one side were coalition of Austrians lead by generals Piotr and Rafał and Russians lead by me as general Winter, on the other side were French lead by Jędrzej and Damian and Wittemberg lead by Kris.

Summary:
– thank you all for great game on Sunday evening – finally our GM also took command of Austrian left by Piotr.
– victory belonged to French side, but one or two more turns we doesn’t had final result could be totally different.

Austria and Russia vs France, still our game wasn’t historical.

General d’Armee: Assault of German states Środa, Paźdź 4 2023

On last Friday (29.09.2023) in Bolter, Wrocław we played two on two game on 2,500 points per side – on one side were German states alliance of Prussia (Kuba) and Württemberg (Kris) – on the other were Austria (Rafał) and Russia (me).

Last month we started to playing more often in General d’Armee as one game per month during weekend is not enough and it’s harder to become familiar with rules when you play once per month only.

Summary:
– finally German states won, after initial successes on our left flank – Prussians finally rallied and pushed back Austrians, on the right flank Württemberg marched forward and my Russians weren’t able to do anything other than trying to hold them. German states took most of the objectives and broke all of our brigades at the end of the game.
– thank you for a good game Kuba, Kris and Rafał!

General d’Armee: A Bridge Too Far Sobota, Wrz 16 2023

On Friday evening (15.09.2023) we managed to play one more bigger game a month, than usually we are playing for last two years. So now we have plans to play one or two more games a month, than only one we played on weekends.

So we managed to played a battle beetwen armies worth 2,500 points per side – on one side was Kris with German state – Württemberg and Napoleonic French, on the other side were allied force of Austrians lead Rafał, Prussians lead by Mr. Goldfish and Russians lead by me.

We played our game as always in Bolter, great place in Wrocław, Poland. If you are interested in playing with us – you can find us on Bolter Club page or on Wrocławscy Bonapartyści.

Summary:
– I spend good time, have some ideas for our next games.
– thank you for great game to all my co-gamers and for all observers we had!
– I think that I’m alive more than in February/March of 2022.

General d’Armee – King of the hill Niedziela, Wrz 3 2023

Today we played in Bolter, Wrocław, PL our monthly game in napoleonic times. There were five of us – three on Allied side – Rafał, Tomek and me and two on French side – Jędrzej and Kris.

We played four hours and we had to finnish game, as one of us had to go far away from place we were playing. Hope next time we will have more hours to play together!

Summary:
– four hours is not enough to play such game, even if French side was winning, Allied side still could do something in next few turns.
– thank you for good game!
– as we played for objectives – hill in the middle was worth 5 VP, farmsteads were worth 2 VP each and two smaller hills were worth 1 VP each.
– at the end Allied controlled one farmstaed and one hill, when French took hill in the middle plus they owned also farmstead and smaller hill. Victory belonged to French today.

With dedication Jędrzejs cuirassiers. To be sure war, war never change according to scences from this short movie.

General d’Armee: The Revenge of the Refused flank. Sobota, Sier 12 2023

Today in Wrocław, PL – in Bolter greatest gaming centre we played one more great game in General d’Armee – today coalition of Austria, UK, Russia (including Poles loyal to the Tzar) fought battle against France. As a group we are players from Wrocław, PL, Ostrów Wielkopolski (thank you Jędrzej!), Bartek (living in Truntow, CZ). We are open to just play with ppl outside of our community – we play once a month there. Next time is 03.09 – it’s Sunday!

Summary:
– thank you guys for meeting and who cares about results of the game? In case of who was winner and loser – at the end good side was in better position.

General d’Armee – All roads to the Rome Sobota, Czer 17 2023

Today we played our monthly game in General d’Armee – there were only three of us, me, my ally Rafał and Tomek who took opposite side. We had four brigades per side – three infantry brigades and one cavalry, both sides had two batteries of guns attached to infantry batallions.

On sir Thomas side were British along several Germans and Spanish, on the other side were France, Poland and Russia under my and de Rafał leadership. Both sides had to take objectives – one worth two points – which was to control road in the forest in the middle and two smaller – roads next to village chapel and another one next to burned tavern.

Summary:
– thank you generals Tomek and Rafał for great game, thank you to Rafał and Bolter.pl for help with models and terrains.
– we still learn system, but it’s nice and looks pretty good compared to one I liked, but with my feral rolls I cannot play in it for maybe one last year – this one is pretty good.
– we had more than 500 miniatures on battlefield, which is not biggest number we had during our games in Napoleonic games. There will be more this Autumn.
– if someone is interested to play with us from time to time – don’t worry to comment here or under post – we are based in Wrocław, Poland. Wrocław is not far away from many Polish cities, it’s also close to Berlin, Dresden, Prague or even Bratislava or Vienna. To be sure, we have great place to play and good pubs close to it 😉 .
– the result of a battle was a Draw.
– close to us were tournament of Song of Ice and Fire – in Bolter tournaments of a different systems are regular.

General d’Armee: Battle of nations – take the bridges! Czwartek, Maj 18 2023

On last weekend we played a battle in General d’Armee, there were four of us, Bartek and Jędrzej were playing France and me and Tomek were playing coalition lead by Great Britain with Portugal, Russia and Spanish as here allies.

Many thanks to all participants for great game and for great time after, on dinner in SOTE pub close to Bolter. Of course I hope that we will continue our games and I will wake up again on Sunday mornings.

Summary:
– at the end French succesfully secured one bridge, another one was still in hands of Allied troops. I think that we need more time to play such game – we played around four hours.
– thank you to Rafał for showing me rulebook for this, after small talk why I losed interest in Black Powder ruleset, which is simple, but few things with really bad rolls can destroy your will to play. Then tests with Kuba and Tomek – that’s it, I’m waiting for second edition of General d’Armee.

General d’Armee: Battle for crossroads Poniedziałek, Lu 13 2023

On last Saturday we played bigger battle in General d’Armee – on one side were British and Portugal led by generals Damian and Tomek, on the other side were mix of many different European nations represented by French, Prussia and Russia led by Bartosz, Jakub, Piotr and me.

Summary:
– it was great battle – from initial four players we grow up to six generals around the table.
– victory belonged to continentals and cavalry did great job on the left flank.
