Today we played one more game with Maxim – it was on 750 points, it was 1945′, so it could happend somewhere in eastern Germany of that time. We played as always in Bolter – the best game store in Wrocław.
The game started with no barrage appeard for both sides.
My T-34-85 with number 532 – I used photo of tank for Festung Breslau. Right flank of Red Army – sniper and veterans with LMG.Left flank, invisible scouts, free infantry and mortar.Hanomag passing by damaged T-34-85.Hurry up boys, engineers left Z-S-6 truck, panicked Hanomag driver with flame thrower. SS retreated from they vehicle really fast. Some move on right flank, sniper hidden and waiting. SS succesfully passed order and fled. Russian scouts found cover behind wall.T-70 finally came to the crossroads. Slow move of now regular free Russian infantry – now regular. SS assaulted on Red Army engineers.T-70 opened fire from it mmg. Then moved and pinned some SS holding crossroads. BA-64 arrived, pinning SS as well. Hard and brutal fight in hand to hand, won by… less numerous Russians.
Summary: – great game, Red Army won this time due numbers of it people. – last year I was active on events, now I’m not active at all, still I want to play Bolt Action on smaller games or at tournaments. – thank you Maxim, next time we will build more urbanized area – maybe Berlin?
I love this song, as a Pole I can understand many words. One of the greatest song of Red Army Choir.
On last Monday we had game two on two, despite there were five of us. In scenario we played which happend somewhere in the Germany at the end of 2nd world war US Army and Soviet Union were allies on two opossite corners of the table and German Wehrmacht&Lufftwaffe were in opossite corners to each other – main target for both allies were to connect in the middle of the table – on crossroads – Germans had to connect to maintain evacuation road, Allied had to prevent them from doing that. The main target for both sides was to control crossroad.
Crossroads somewhere in Germany.Red Army hurry up, to be first on the crossroad.German SS coming out from the Wald der Schatten.Little reconnesaince vehicles of Red Army came after ZiS-6 truck with engineers.Other group of Germans emerged from the fields.Panzer IV joined them.US Army heading toward the crossroad.More Germans emerged from the forest. Before spearhead of both forces came to crossroad – snipers and observers of both sides were close to objective.Achtung Panzer!Germans running beetwen fields.Boom, German SdKfz destroyed Russian truck with it 3,7 cm ligght anti tank gun. Most of engineers jumped from destroyed vehicle.Вперед, Вперед!After some troubles famous German Opel Blitz arrived with Pioniers on its back. From all sides allied and axis forces attempt to take crossroad at all costs.M4 Sherman arrived aiming at Pz IVA lot of action in the middle.A struggle beetwen David and Goliath – T-70 vs Panzer IV.A lot of everything going on in the middle and around.US Army and Red Army took crossroad, but German officials and scientist escaped other route, only lesser men were captured.
Summary: – as we agreed at the start of this experimental scenario to win scenario is to control crossroad – side which had more soldiers close to it were Soviet Union and USA, but fight were so fierce, that most important officials of German side took different road. – hopefully Bolt Action next to WFB is a system in which I want to play regulary games with both Finland and Soviet Union – once a week, no less. Tuesdays will be for this game. – thank you Adam, Kamil, Łukasz and Maxim for great game!
Today we played some training game and first game for Max in Bolter – welcome! Lapland War – some kind of compromise beetwen Finland and Soviet Union to avoid occupation of Finland by bigger neighbour – so war beetwen Finland and Germany was effect of this compromise.
For me it was my third training/demo in Bolt Action – not sure if this system is not winning in case of such games over Warhammer Fantasy Battle, where I’m doing demo games as well – probably now is 3 to 3 beetwen them. It’s my second game in Bolt Action where I played using English – first one was with my friend from beautiful capital of Czech Republic – thank you Vladimir!
Crossroads – we struggle for it.Finnish Sissi squad make a way in German Opel Blitz.Finnish late war infantry advances off the board.Sniper team next to them.Germans also wanted to take control over crossroad to escape north.Another Finnish squad with comapny of mmg next to them.Germans behind fence and field.Finnish medium mortart. Both sides get closer, under mortar fire which was pretty aimed from both sides.German unit from penal battalion took position in the house.Truck driver said, truck is valuable, so I go behind cover.Aim and shoot.Good, safe place for Finnish Opel Blitz – Germany provided around 1,000 of they trucks to Finnland.Finnish infantry advance…Some received wounds, hopefully not mortals, the others took them and runned away. This time on turn 4th Finnland controlled crossroad, but we aggred to play another game soon.
Summary: – good game on 750 points, I know we will play more games soon. – in case of asking for players or for demo games it’s good to ask for it on KLUB BOLTER – Wargaming Community Center – Bolter is greatest community in Wrocław and many players play here in many different systems.
Today we played our monthly game in General d’Armee – there were only three of us, me, my ally Rafał and Tomek who took opposite side. We had four brigades per side – three infantry brigades and one cavalry, both sides had two batteries of guns attached to infantry batallions.
On sir Thomas side were British along several Germans and Spanish, on the other side were France, Poland and Russia under my and de Rafał leadership. Both sides had to take objectives – one worth two points – which was to control road in the forest in the middle and two smaller – roads next to village chapel and another one next to burned tavern.
Forest of Shadows – place which was objective #1.Small chapel dedicated to the Jesus Christ – minor objective #2.Ruins of the tavern – „Rome” – minor objective #2.General Rafal battalion of French.French lead by me in the middle, next to the Russians and forest. Both sides were on the opposite sides.British of sir Thomas are coming.British and Germans on the other flank. Two Russian batallions of line infantry, artillery and jagers companies arrived to the field of battle. British vs Russians and incoming French&Poles on our right flank. Our left flank, artillery ready to fire…… one on the hill and another one on the field. So I told my comrades: first shoot and I will get out of ammo which happend then 🙂 .Both sides coming closer to fight for the ruins of tavern.Casadores with rifles scored several hits on Russian jagers.Fortunately combined French and Polish cavalry came from reserves to oppose British cavalry. Just in time.Stable situation on left flank.British cavalry of sir Thomas.Left flank belonged to French from continental allied side.Close to shoot at each other, both sides started fire from muskeets.Russians fired to much powder, so to the end they cannons were much less effective.British bravely charged on Polish uhlans and French cuirrassiers. Russian jagers escaped when saw that fighting for a forest is without chance to win.Cuirassiers won combat and enemy retreated to they lines.Flank charge, devastating one.First French battalion broken in hand to hand combat on bayonnets.Cavalry of continental armies in a triumph.Bavarian battalion.
Summary: – thank you generals Tomek and Rafał for great game, thank you to Rafał and Bolter.pl for help with models and terrains. – we still learn system, but it’s nice and looks pretty good compared to one I liked, but with my feral rolls I cannot play in it for maybe one last year – this one is pretty good. – we had more than 500 miniatures on battlefield, which is not biggest number we had during our games in Napoleonic games. There will be more this Autumn. – if someone is interested to play with us from time to time – don’t worry to comment here or under post – we are based in Wrocław, Poland. Wrocław is not far away from many Polish cities, it’s also close to Berlin, Dresden, Prague or even Bratislava or Vienna. To be sure, we have great place to play and good pubs close to it 😉 . – the result of a battle was a Draw. – close to us were tournament of Song of Ice and Fire – in Bolter tournaments of a different systems are regular.
Today is a last day of Kickstarter campaign for Gods of War: Togo – in addition to main goal which was release rulebook for game in English along with Royal Navy fleet several more achievements were achievedand maybe some more will be achieved – there are still four hours for doing it.
It’s nice to see that Kickstarter for game I’m playing a lot of games will give chance for English speaking players to play – hopefully most people playing wargames speak this language – as do Americans, Australians, Canadians, many European players, New Zealanders and – and now I’m not sure as I personaly meet people of many different cultures and languages – I’m pretty sure, that players from China, South Korea or Japan speak English pretty well. If I forgot someone, forgive me – I looked on my blog statistics and I’m well informed about Europe and English speaking countries around the world.
To be sure, this game is must have for people who are inside naval wargaming and loving XIX/XX century. If not loving this period of time, just give a chance – I’m pretty good in 2nd world war and then in area up to XVII century. Loved this game from a first sight, the same feeling was for Gods of War: General Lee, still cannot finish my own models.
Yesterday with Duderson we played one more game in our never ending campaing of Japanese Empire vs Russian Empire. Today we played classical game – to destroy as many enemy ships as we can. Game lasted for around two and half hour and our fleets at the end were shadows, of what we had at the start.
We played our game in Bolter, local Wrocław game store/club with everything tabletop gamer, boardgames gamer or RPG player needs. Gods of War: Togo is again on Kickstarter – English version will be releasead as it was said after day of Kickstarter – HERE you can read about it. A lot of materials about this simple but not trivial system are HERE.
Varyag and Pernov class torpedo boats.Japanese Empire of Duderson.Few more Japanese ships. Both sides visible with part of admiral Duderson.I tested different placing of my Suworow and Borodino battleships.Eight Russian heavy guns from both battleships were able to shot on Japanese.Duderson has two fleets of smaller ships with ability to spread minefield. Here are both Borodino-class – Borodino and Suworow – I have to buy three more Borodino class to make them all.Nowik class and Aurora move on the right flank. Varyag turns left. Both fleets coming closer, both Borodino and Suworow changed positions.Japanese first lose, ship close to island on the right, have to remember name of this one. Both fleets after some turns. Both Borodino class ships had too much work to do.Almost ramming, jet they were able to evade. We had to end, our time was over. It was again great game, thank you Duderson.
Summary: – another great game with Duderson – it was my big victory 28:4, but one more turn and probably it could be a draw, as my flagship was burning and received too many shoots on close distance. – again I’m thinking that two battleships on two thousands points are must to have in case of my own Russian fleet, deploying them is another question.
Today we played with Duderson our never ending naval clash of empires of XIX/XX century – on my side tzar Empire of Romanow dynasty and on Duderson side Japan Empire. We played scenario called „Clash on the counter-courses”, where both fleets had to cross board on the opposite corner of the table. As always we played in Bolter, official partner of GM Boardgames – studio which released Gods of War: Togo and older Gods of War: Rober E. Lee and Gods of War: Napoleon.
If you are interested in this great game – we have one important news – rulebook is under translation to English and Royal Navy will be another fleet in this simple but not trivial game – HEREare more informations about it.
After first turn both fleets were in such positions.Japanese torpedo boats moved to cross path of Russian navy.Island made our hitting harder, as we shot over it.Japanese torpedo boat sent torpedos, but none of them scored a hit.Massive fire from Russian fleet sunk one group of torpedo boats.Other group of torpedo boats succesfully passed beetwen Russian ships.First ramming, Buynyi class started getting water, with it crew trying to safe ship from sunking.Second ramming, succesful – ship which got many hits before from Russian Borodino class ships: Suworow and Borodin sunk after being rammed.Third ramming… Aurora rammed Suworow, both ships survived, but started sunking.Torpedo boats captain decided to surrender – were destroyed by they own ship, as Japanese do not surrender.Japanese fleet moving into the correct exit corner.Russian ship also preparing to leave board.Aurora being flood by water.Last ship on the table which missed crossing corner was Aurora.
Summary: – great game, thank you Duderson! Waiting for one more game soon. – this time it was my victory – 70 to 43.
Wargamer, nice place in Poznań.I musieli się ruszyć 😉 .One of the sponsors was Warlord.Barwy Altdorfu?
