Bolt Action: Longest Day – History Point/Najdłuższy dzień – Przystanek Historia Niedziela, Lip 10 2022

On last Friday I participated in „Przystanek Historia” (History: Point) opened by president of Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) dr Karol Nawrocki with words: This story stop can be place on map of Wrocław, in which we will talk about past and future. I’m convinced,that in this place there will be no shortage of reflections about the Second World War and what happened after 1945.

We know that this great Allied operation could not have taken place without the contribution of the Polish airmen, Polish sailors, General Maczek, who fought at Falaise, and those who marched from different directions, retaining hope for a free and independent Poland, said the IPN President Karol Nawrocki during the event.

It’s great that on this oppening was president of IPN – so „Przystanek Historia” started cycle of events called „Wakacje z IPN” (Holidays with IPN). To be sure it’s a lot of different workshops for young people as well as for adults, speeches and also Bolt Action in high callibre details. So it begun at night of 5/6 June 1944, 6928 American paratroopers of famous 101st paratrooper division jumped down to occupied France to secure roads to beaches and make as much chaos to occupying German forces as they can – it was Operation Albany. Then invasion on beaches started in the morning of 6th June were Allies forces started sea landing on beaches Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, Sword – Operation Overlord started. Our forces on Friday recreated landing on Utah beach and brave fight of paratroopers for Sainte-Marie-du-Mont with it great church towering over town.

W ostatni piątek brałem wziąłem udział w „Przystanku Historia” inaugurowanym przemową prezesa Instytutu Pamięci Narodowej (IPN) dr Karola Nawrockiego słowami: Ten Przystanek może być na mapie Wrocławia miejscem, w którym będziemy mówić o przeszłości i dla przyszłości. Jestem przekonany, że w tym miejscu nie zabraknie refleksji i o II wojnie światowej i o tym co wydarzyło się po roku 1945.

Wiemy, że wielka operacja aliantów nie mogłaby się odbyć bez wkładu Polaków, bez pięknej odysei wolności polskich lotników, polskich marynarzy, gen. Maczka, który bił się pod Falaise, ale także tych, którzy szli z różnych stron, nie porzucając w 1939 roku nadziei na wolną i niepodległą RP – mówił prezes IPN dr Karol Nawrocki podczas otwarcia placówki.

Świetnie, że na tym otwarciu był prezes IPN – tak więc „Przystanek Historia” rozpoczął cykl spotkać zwanych „Wakacje z IPN”. Dla pewności – mają to być liczne, różnorodne warsztaty, konferencje tak dla młodych jak dla dorosłych wliczając w to także Bolt Action w wysokiego kalibru detalach. Wydarzenie powstało we współpracy Boltera z IPN.

Tak więc zaczęło się wszystko w nocy z 5 na 6 czerwca 1944, 6928 spadochroniarzy z słynnej 101 amerykańskiej dywizji powietrzno-desantowej skoczyło z samolotów do okupowanej Francji by zabezpieczyć drogi do plaż oraz zasiać tyle zamętu ile się da wobec okupujących kraj Niemców – było to w ramach Operacji Albany. Następnie nad ranem 6 czerwca nastąpił desant morski sił alianckich na plaże Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, Sword – Operacja Overlord się rozpoczęła. Nasz siły w piątek odegrały lądowanie na plaży Utah i bohaterskie walki spadochroniarzy o miasteczko Sainte-Marie-du-Mont z swoim wielkim kościołem górującym nad dachami okolicznych domów.

Allies go forward from the landing crafts. Alianci idą naprzód z barek desantowych.
German acht coma acht battery took many tanks. Niemiecka bateria acht coma acht zniszyła wiele czołgów.
Germans realized what is going on. Niemcy zorientowali się w czym jest sprawa.
Paratroopers took German pak gun and turned it to cover road. Spadochroniarze zajęli niemieckiego paka i obrócili by osłaniać drogę.
Countryside. Prowincja.
First victim, German Opel Blitz. Pierwsza ofiara, niemiecki Opel Blitz.
Germans try to hold on. Niemcy próbują utrzymać pozycję.
Each Sherman has historical markings. Każdy Sherman miał historyczne oznaczenia.
Baby Chthulu bag used for mixing order dices. Małe Chthulu do losowania kości rozkazu.
Mustang.
More and more paratroopers find they way to the town. Więcej i więcej spadochroniarzy odnalazło drogę do miasteczka.
DD (Duplex Drive) Sherman.
More and more Americans. Więcej i więcej Amerykanów.
Thank you guys, it was great to be there with this team. Dzięki drużyno, było świetnie być tam z wami.

Amercans broke from beaches and assaulted on German battery. Amerykanie przebili się z plaż i uderzyli na niemiecką baterię.
Victory belonged to USA. Zwycięstwo amerykańskiej strony.

Summary:
– it was great event, with workshops, great Bolt Action table, prelections.
– great job to people from Bolter and for people supporting preparations.
– great job to IPN and it employees.

Podsumowanie:
– było to świetne wydarzenie, z warsztatami, wielkim stołem do Bolt Action, prelekcjami.
– świetna robota ekipo Boltera oraz dla osób wspierających.
– świetna robota IPN i dla jego pracowników.

 

Bolt Action: Assault in area of Termoli Środa, Czer 8 2022

Today (06.06.2022) we played 3rd game of Italian campaign – battle of Termoli – town which has port and road to the north and south Italy. It’s part of games played in Bolter and supported by Polish Institute of Remembrance (called shortly IPN – Instutut Pamięci Narodowej).

Americans advance into the harbour facilities.
Germans try to prevent them.
More M10 arrived on the battlefield.
British reserves arrived.
Panther covering road to the town.
Duel beetwen M10 and German tanks of different types.
Commandos emerges from they hidenout.
Sniper switched position.
Panzer from the church.
British commandos arrived in poontons.
Ubboat started going down.

Summary:
– spliting table for several zone areas for Order Dices was great idea, we played six turns.
– thank you all for game and for borrowing models for me.
– thank you for interesting prelection before game started!

About Audie Murphy – the most decorated American soldier. He took part in Italian campaign.

 

Bolt Action: Salerno – Allied landing by air and sea Środa, Czer 1 2022

Today we played second part of campaign on Sicily. It was recreation of combined action of Allies forces in area of Salerno, Italy. American and British troops landed by air and sea in area of Salerno. This campaing we play in Bolter and is supported by Polish Institute of Remembrance,

Institute of Remembrance (IPN).
My borrowed force (thank you Dudzio and General).

Summary:
– thank you all for good game.
– as German side we forgot briefing and losed initiative.
– Allied side won this battle.

 

Bolt Action: Night fighting near Salerno Piątek, Maj 27 2022

Today we played a part of Italian campaing which took place beetwen small forces of American Rangers and German patrols and crews of batteries covering a bay near the Salerno itself. Scenario was provided by Karol and I took Germans and Olek took forces of USA. We played it as part of bigger campaing we played last Wendesday in Bolter, Wrocław, PL. So it was a night…

Hilly terrain with acht coma acht (famous flak 8,8 cm) AA guns batteries.
On the left Germans patrols, on right USA Rangers.
No one see each other.
Hans, hast du was gehört (Hans, have you heard something)?
Germans do not know that enemies are everywhere.
When first patrol dissapeard, another one came to look for them.
Single Karl stayed wounded till was too late.
Almost Fubar on coming out from bunker.
Morale on two sixes, feels like Fubar.
German officer started giving orders to his squads to save situation.
German medium machine gun tries to take position.
Germans advances.
Clearing area from Rangers.
Finally squad from bunker on left moved out, losing leader at the start.
Germans retaken one acht coma acht.
Americans took two of them…
…that will have influence on next game on Wendesday.
A down has come.

Summary:
– interesting game with objectives and many inexperienced units on German side with all veterans on the other side.
– thank you Karol for interesting scenario and Olek for game.
– today my strenght of will had been passed and my Confederates still don’t have cannon.

81 years ago German battleship Bismarck was sunk.

 

Bolt Action: Italian campaign – A race to Messina Środa, Maj 25 2022

Today (25.05.2022) we played in Bolter first struggle of campaing on Sicyly – when Allies forces raced up to take Messina. This campaing is supported by Institute of Remembrance (IPN). One table were British against Germans and on the other USA against Germans and Italians. Who would be first in Messina general Bernard Montgomery or general George Patton?

Shermans on they way.
Ready to start fire on incoming Sherman.
Shermans crossed a hills and advance forward.
One tank immobilised by German Pak 7,5 cm, other stressed and Fubar was rolled by me.

Summary:
– thank you for great game to Karol (and for borrowed to me models), to everyone who participated, to sponsor Institute of Remembrance (IPN) and to place we played – Bolter!
– Victory belonged to British, as they were faster than USA – historically general Patton was much better than his British counterpart.

 

Bolt Action: Breaktrough to Tunisia Środa, Kwi 13 2022

Today we played bigger battle where Germans tried to do last attempt in stopping combined Allied forces from taking Tunisia and gaining good position to further assault on Sicily. In this game all Germans vehicles plus unit transported by trucks were first wave and started game on the table, all the others were 2nd wave. Then Allies started coming off board – units without transports were coming then, also as 2nd wave.

Germans right flank in the town.
Germans middle.
Camp was one of achievements and due lack of trucks and fuel, camels could be used to evacuate supplies.
We had two similar platoons of Shermans.
German left flank with famous Tiger I.
Allied left flank were most of Shermans were deployed.
German middle from they own lines.
British and USA advance losing some tanks…
and luckiy destroying German big cat.
Brave Scotts crazily drive to supply depot to prevent it from moving it to German lines.
Another German Tiger join combat.
Desparately fight for water rights.
History is history and we cannot change it – it should teach politicians to build better world, to avoid repeating it. We don’t support any totalitarian regimes.
More Germans took positions in the building and around.
Scotts, British and Americans took right flank with support of two Sherman tanks.
Overall view from right flank. Artillery barrage made most German units pinned to the ground.
Unfortunately valiant German major rallied his troops and they get new spirit stopping one of the Shermans.

Summary:
– thank you all for great time!
– This time Allied troops won!

 

6 czerwca 1944 Sobota, Gru 9 2017 

Bolt Action and Niemcy and USA tancreddebeauville 21:16

Dzisiaj w domu handlowym Astra, a konkretniej w Planszóweczce zagraliśmy desant w Normandii. Połączone siły Anglo-Amerykańskie pod dowództwem Cacymiła, Pawła oraz moim zmierzyły się z Niemcami dowodzonymi przez Dominika, Huberta i Andrzeja.

Graliśmy mając po 800 punktów na każdego alianta, plus barki. Na każdego gracza grającego Niemcami było 600 punktów plus bunkry oraz po dwa pola minowe (połowę z nich zdjął ostrzał przygotowujący natarcie).  Zdziwiłem się brakiem Churchilla AVRE u Cacymiła – aż się prosił o pobyt w tej rozgrywce.

Szeregowiec Ryan – wersja figurkowa.

Demokracja nadchodzi – amerykański Sherman bardzo wsparł unieszkodliwienie słynnej acht-coma-acht.

Major Pawła poprowadził skutecznie natarcie w centrum – prawdziwy bohater z zwykłym Coltem 0.45. Sporo spustoszenia zrobił również samolot.

Jednak amerykański snajper okazał się być gorszy od rosyjskiego. Owszem, trafiał – ale nic nie zrobił.

I w końcu pancerzownica dopadła zapalniczkę Ronsona (mojego weterana – M4 Sherman’a).  Była to 8 albo 9 tura – Alianci mimo olbrzymich strat wygrali. Gra była bardzo wyrównana i dzięki Hubertowi który losował kości dość dynamicznie szła do przodu. Oby więcej takich gier!
