🇬🇧 Recently, I finally managed to finish a project that began three years ago — the Aurora, a Russian Pallada-class cruiser, and one of the few ships from that era that have survived to this day. She proudly rests at the pier in Saint Petersburg, serving as a living monument to history. ⚓

Work on the model was delayed mainly because… the deck boats went missing — they disappeared without a trace three years ago. As it turned out, they had “escaped” among other miniatures — between units from Bolt Action, Warhammer Fantasy Battles, and a few other systems. 😄 Fortunately, after a long search, they were finally found, and Aurora could at last leave the shipyard in her full glory! 🚢

The Pallada-class cruisers (often known in Russia as “Diana-type protected cruisers”) were a group of three protected cruisers built for the Imperial Russian Navy (IRN) in the late 1890s. One ship of the class, Aurora, is still crewed by the Russian Navy, and maintained as a museum ship.

These heavily – for their class – armed ships will pose a threat to smaller ships, especially due to the large number of medium and small caliber guns.

🇵🇱 W ostatnim czasie udało mi się wreszcie ukończyć rozpoczętą trzy lata temu Aurorę – rosyjski krążownik klasy Pallada, jeden z nielicznych okrętów z tamtej epoki, które przetrwały do dziś. Dumnie cumuje przy nabrzeżu w Sankt Petersburgu, będąc żywym pomnikiem historii. ⚓

Prace nad modelem przeciągnęły się głównie z powodu… zaginięcia łodzi pokładowych, które trzy lata temu zniknęły bez śladu. Jak się okazało, „uciekły” wśród innych figurek – między oddziałami z Bolt Action, Warhammera Fantasy Battles i kilku innych systemów. 😄 Na szczęście po długim czasie odnalazły się, a Aurora mogła wreszcie opuścić stocznię w pełnej krasie! 🚢

Pallada to seria trzech krążowników pancernopokładowych, zbudowanych w latach 90-tych XIX wieku. Jeden z okrętów tego typu – Aurora – ciągle istnieje jako okręt muzeum.
Pallada jest silnie uzbrojona, zwłaszcza w artylerię lekką, więc jest bardzo dobrym okrętem, służącym do osłony ciężkich jednostek przez zagrożeniem ze strony niszczycieli i torpedowców.

– The ship was a real pleasure to paint — in fact, it’s been almost finished for three years, if not for those missing boats. 😄

– Okręt był bardzo przyjemny w malowaniu — właściwie od trzech lat był prawie skończony, gdyby nie te zaginione łodzie. 😄
