Today we played in Bolter, Wrocław, PL our monthly game in napoleonic times. There were five of us – three on Allied side – Rafał, Tomek and me and two on French side – Jędrzej and Kris.
We played four hours and we had to finnish game, as one of us had to go far away from place we were playing. Hope next time we will have more hours to play together!
In the rays of the rising sun……cavalry of both sides arrived on the field of battle, to take from march important hill.French cuirrasiers and lancers.Allied side cavalry on right flank.French cuirassiers galloped on the hill.On the left flank Russian cavalry composed of Polish nobility and Don Cossacks opposed heavy French cavalry.Allied guns set up and opened fire. The cavalry battle has begun.Brave charge of Polish Uhlans supported by cossacks on French heavy cavalry.More cavalry charges from both sides. The infantry regiments arrived on the battlefield. The broken Russian cavalry regiment retreated outside the battlefield. The French cuirassiers triumphed.French infantry on right flank marches forward to take the farmstead.More French infantry in the middle.Austrian infantry marching forward to take the hill.Another allied cavalry brigade has been broken and left the field. The Russian infantry was the first to take the farm before the French did.Russian stand and shoot against French charge on bayonnets.Allied artillery remained stationary on left flank.Russians tried to broke French on left flank, but without good leaders they weren’t able to charge on bayonnets.Austrians advanced to retake the hill.French heavy cavalry charged on Austrian infantry…… and broke them easily.Right flank of allied side was quite stable.
Summary: – four hours is not enough to play such game, even if French side was winning, Allied side still could do something in next few turns. – thank you for good game! – as we played for objectives – hill in the middle was worth 5 VP, farmsteads were worth 2 VP each and two smaller hills were worth 1 VP each. – at the end Allied controlled one farmstaed and one hill, when French took hill in the middle plus they owned also farmstead and smaller hill. Victory belonged to French today.
With dedication Jędrzejs cuirassiers. To be sure war, war never change according to scences from this short movie.
