🇬🇧 Recently, I managed to finish painting a galleon from Firelock Games for Oak & Iron. This model is inspired by the Spanish galleon San José, whose wreck was discovered off the coast of Colombia in 2015. The ship likely sank due to an explosion in its powder magazine during a battle with the English fleet on June 8, 1708. Out of a crew of 600, only 11 survived. The treasure that went down with her is currently estimated at 17 billion US dollars.

I painted the ship in French colors — the set includes cards representing the aforementioned San José as well as a standard galleon. As is often the case with sailing ships, painting it was a real pleasure. For now, France in Oak & Iron holds the upper hand over the English fleet. What remains is to paint two more ships for the proud inhabitants of Albion, and another one for the subjects of the Bourbon dynasty.

🇵🇱 W ostatnim czasie udało mi się skończyć taki galeon od Firelock Games do Oak&Iron. Jest to okręt wzorowany na hiszpańskim galeonie San José którego wrak odkryto u wybrzeży Kolumbii w 2015 roku. Przyczyną zatonięcia był prawdopodobnie wybuch magazynu prochu w trakcie bitwy z flotą angielską 8 czerwca 1708 roku, z załogi liczącej 600 osób przeżyło zaledwie 11. Skarby na nim zatopione są szacowane obecnie na 17 miliardów dolarów amerykańskich.

Sam okręt pomalowałem w barwach francuskich – w zestawie dołączone są karty reprezentujące wspomnianego wcześniej San José oraz zwykły galeon. Jak to w przypadku żaglowców malowało się go bardzo przyjemnie – tak więc obecnie Francja w Oak&Iron ma przewagę na flotą angielską. Pozostanie domalować kolejne dwa okręty dla dumnych mieszkańców Albionu i kolejny jeden dla poddanych dynastii Burbonów.
